I had a TON of problems is 2007 and looking forward to those dropping off, however I have 2 that are particularly bad, and even tho they were paid off in late 2007 they apparently kept reporting randomnly into 2009. These accounts were closed AND paid, and not sure how or why they reported these after the fact. One shows a total of 23 late payments!!!!!!! They all list as "ok" now, but are clearly wildy inaccurate.
My question is that I am trying to get my home refinanced for some renovations in december/january. I'd been told in the past that lenders can see a flag on the report if items have been contested. How long does this last and is it safe to contest these before I attempt to refi?
I've had 5 years of spotless credit, and while my balances are fairly high at the moment I haven't been able to get up near or over 700 so far ![]()
Welcome to the forums.
If you are applying anytime soon for a mortgage, do not dispute. Yes, they can see the disputes until they are resolved and the comments are updated to show they are no longer in dispute.
30 days is how long the CRAs have to resolve a dispute but many times they forget to remove the comment.
Are these accounts reporting lates after it was paid off?
That is correct. They show reported lates over a year after the account was closed and paid.
So it's only 30 days? I am looking at a December/January time frame so would that be safe? Am I able to see that same note?
Thanks!!
I would actually send a direct dispute (in my signature) to the OC reporting those lates and not dispute with the CRAs.
Yes, anyone that pulls your report can see that dispute.
