How long should I wait for paid collection to update before disputing?
Hi all,
I have one unpaid collection showing on my CR that I paid off. How long should I wait for it to update before disputing? It was from a collection agency for Verizon and it was paid December 19th. I have a receipt. Thanks.

I just closed on my mortage in December 2014 and part of escrow was paying my two unpaid collections of $85 and $65. We closed on 12/15 and my collections updated to paid within a week. This was faster than I thought and I suspect it normally takes up to 30 days from the date of payment. If they are not updated by then you could dispute the accounts and that should get them updated within 30 days of the dispute or even possibly deleted entirely. I disputed mine on TU after they updated as paid and they were deleted which again I don't believe is typical either. I'm going to dispute the accounts on my ohther CRs as well.
