I had an item which I negotiated with the Collector to PFD. I went into their office in person and before exchanging money they gave me something in writing stating that the item was paid in full and that they would report to all credit reporting agencies to completely delete the item from my credit. It has only been a week or so but how long should i wait?
In the past i have seen stuff come off or even update in as little as a day and as long as a week.

I've seen things updated that quickly as well, but the CRAs do have 45 days from the time of receipt to update any changes, so I would wait at least that long before considering further action.
I was thinking of waiting a good 30 days but if 45 is the magic number i have no problem waiting 15 more days. Out of curiousity what would further actions involve?

It would involve disputing with the CRAs as creditor agreed to delete. Also, keep in mind that it's 45 days from the date that the CA sent the update to the CRAs, not necessarily the date you paid. Most only update once a month, either at the beginning or at the end of the month.

OK I was unaware that if you did a PFD and they do not delete you can go to the CRA.

Another thing you can do is send a dispute to the CRA with the deletion letter attached. I have done this and have had quick results.
+1
I got two delinquencies off my reports (EX & EQ) within 48 hours after faxing them the CA letter stating that they agreed to remove the tradeline from my file. If you get impatient (like I did) that may work for you too.
Good luck.

What number did you use to fax Experian?
The EX dispute fax number. It's located on a thread (which is a sticky) at the top of this "Rebuilding Your Credit" section.
