I ran my mothers credit report.
Wondering... how long would it take to remove a collection derogatory mark from the report
after the payment has been made?
What's the date of first default?

But, on Credit Karma Feb, 04 2014 is listed as the "Date Opened"
(6/11/2014 Was listed as the Report Date )

So, the collection was opened in February, but when did the original account go into default?

4 years.....It may still be worth it to try to settle it or pay for delete.
If it was 6 i'd say just let sleeping dogs lie.
Unless you PTD or get it removed via goodwill, it will remain from the date of last activity - the date you paid.
So, if you paid it this year, without a goodwill you're looking at 7 years.
Date paid or date of last activity is immaterial to exclusion of a collection.
Any reported collection or charge-off must be excluded no later than 7 years plus 180 days from the date of first delinquency on the OC account.
The DOFD must have been reported to the CRA within 90 days after reporting of the collection, so is present in her credit file.
If the commercial credit report you obtained does not provide the DOFD, try obtaining a report from annuacreditreport.com or contacting the CRA directly.
It is that DOFD, and no other date, that sets the period for CR exclusion.
