How many points for being good?

Does anyone know how many points one would get by paying a bill on time and only using the 1%-9% UTIL?

I'm sure there is no for sure answer but was just trying to get an idea?

I just got my Macy's account and have a BofA card all at 9% UTIL and on the due date I'm going to pay it down a little on time of course.

Thanks In Advance!

Re: How many points for being good?

You don't get any points for being under 9%, but rather you prevent losing points by being at 9% or less. Utilization and point gains result in utilization dropping from 10% plus down below the 9% threshold. As a rule of thumb, and certainly not fact, for every 10% you pay down to the 9% level, you gain 10 points. So, if, for example, you are at 90% and pay to 9%, then generally the gain would be about 80 FICO points.

Point gain depends on a number of factors including your mix of credit, your scoring bucket, and the number of CCs reporting a balance in relation to those not reporting a balance.

So since I'm already under or at 9% UTIL, there'd be no difference with me paying a small portion of the due ammount than paying it off in full, in regards to points?

Re: How many points for being good?

Per utilization, no. However, ideally you'd want no more than 1/2 of your CCs carrying balances. If you do, pay at least 1/2 to $0 and let it report. You should see an increase. Also, play with the system. Try to let 1 report a balance with the rest at $0 and see if that helps any. Some report decent gains by doing so. And w/ the one carrying a balance, let $1 report or more and play with the numbers each month, all the while keeping it under 9%.
