How many to apply for?

I just was approved for my first card using the shopping card trick.  My question is how many should I try to get.  The only other card I have is a secured Capone that I've had for 2 1/2 years. Maybe one or two more?

If you are going for store cards only ones that you will actually use. If going for the Visa/M-C they offer I would not do more than 2 at any one time with them.
