Whenever you use a service, like pulling your reports from the Credit Reporting Agencies or using a credit monitoring service, or even pulling from here, the service will pull using a soft inquiry as opposed to a hard inquiry. FICO and creditors only look at/score hard inquiries, and ignore the softs. Now if a lender pulls your credit, then there's the potential for harm.
I check my credit reports every day. I have no FICO® credit score to check yet. Reports and scores are not the same thing. When 6 months have passed then I should have a FICO® score, I will check Transunion and Equifax from this site once a week for my husband and myself. That will only cost $80 a week -- money well spent
I am working on GWing my last paid collection off, and haven't gotten response from CA. So I check my CR about once a week hoping to see it come off. As soon as it falls off, will probably only check monthly or quarterly.
A weekly check is just fine with me. Not so much for the scores but to make sure nothing fishy is going on.
