Hey everyone!
I've been on the road to improving my credit for almost 2 years now. Finding this forum has been a tremendous help! Wish I had found it earlier!
I started out in the low 500's to where I'm at now between 650-750 (it varies between EQ, TU and EX).
However, what is holding me back are several accounts in collections and one charge off (Discover).
Here is a list/breakdown of my collections and my charge-off. I also included my current Credit Scores as well.
The biggest accout (money wise) is Discover. I had read somewhere on the forums that some bureaus will remove it up to 3 months early? I contacted each of the credit bureaus and Equifax did remove it. Which is awesome! (it caused my EQ score to jump 83 pts). I guess I'll just have to wait until July for the other 2 bureaus to remove it from my CR. I can't wait for that to fall off! The Aargon collection will be removed next month.
Soooo, here is my question....Should I send PFD's to United Revenue Corp and TXU Energy (TXU doesn't have a debt collector associated with it, but it's still showing on my CR, so for that one I assume I would have to contact the OC (TXU) to get that removed?
What would you guys do if you were in my shoes?
I've posted a few times and people always wanted to know more information about my credit history, so here's my credit situation.
Here are my credit cards that I have and their Balances/Credit Limits
Capital One Platinum: $0/$2500
Capital One QuickSilver One: $0/$500
Jared Galleria Jewelry: $0/$400
The Home Depot: $0/$800 I'm an authorized user on this one)
Credit One Bank: $0/$1050
Credit One Bank: $0/$800
Fortiva: $0/$1000
Indigo: 0$/$300
Capital One/Walmart: $0/$2200 (I'm an authorized user on this one)
Legacy: First National Credit: $0/$750
Car loan with a remaining balance of $12k
A motorcycle loan with a remaining balance of $5k
I have no mortgage or rent.
My Credit utilization is at 0% and I don't carry over a balance from month to month.
I've been paying everything off each month and not carrying over any balances, but my credit score has kind of plateaued. I'm wanting to increase my credit score and I also want to get qualified for better cards with higher credit limits/perks etc... (not to make a large purchase btw) instead of having a bunch of cards with such low limits.
My guess is that my score is not increasing as fast as it had been prior because of these collections on my CR. BTW, Not every collection is reported on each bureau. For instance, Equifax only shows one small collection, wheras, Experian shows 5. Weird I guess?
Lastly, I heard that medical collections aren't weighed as heavily in the new Fico and Vantage model? I don't know if this is true or not, but two of those collections are medical bills. Regardless I want them off my CR.
Sorry for the long post! If anybody has suggestions or what steps I should do next I would appreciate it!!
If there's any additional info that anyone needs, don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks again!!

What is your ultimate goal?
If you are not in a rush to app for amything, you can just wait them out or look into EE (early exclusion).
You need to pull your reports from annual credit report, *specifically*. They are free to pull weekly thru 4/2022 - no scores. I am reluctant to think you got those date from your CRs since they are the same for all 3Bs, when EX always has an earlier age off date than the other 2.
TU will list "estimated date of removal". You can request EE 6 months prior to that date listed for each account.
EQ will list "date of first delinquency" (*not* the also listed "major delinquency first reported"). Add 7 years to that date and it should age off the month prior to then. It is a huge gamble to ask EQ for any EE. They only allow 1 month of EE. It was a huge risk asking them and I am glad it worked out for you, but I would avoid it in the future. It is only 30d and they usually age off on their own sooner than that making EE moot.
EX will list "on record until" which *will* be different than EQ and TU because they already "build in" 2 or 3 months of EE into that date. Tgey offer 3 months EE, but you need to factor in what they already are "building in" to the date listed.
Personally, I find EE best for TU and I just leave EQ and EX alone to age off on their own. I have had a lot of negatives happen when messing with with EQ and EX and so have others...especially EQ.
So ynless you are in a rush, you really only have a year to go and your scores really are not that bad currently.
@Anonymous Thanks for the detailed response. In response to your question, my goal is honestly, just a personal one. More of a intrinsic reward for myself lol. I'm in no hurry to make any large purchases but would like to get the negatives off my record
I actually did get that info from annualcreditreport since I heard that since this Covid mess they are allowing people to pull their full credit report once a week I believe. I also downloaded credit.com's app which shows 28 different scoring models (free for the first 30 days) but it matches up with annualcreditreport. But I will double check again just to make sure.
I did request an EE with Trans Union, and ironically, I found them the hardest to deal with lol. I spoke to a bunch of different people and supervisors and worked my way up and didn't get anywhere.
I've waited this long...what's another year lol.
Thanks again,
I tried a PFD with TXU Energy but they keep sending me debt validation instead so i went back to ignoring it. Let me know if you have better luck.
@simplegirl I will let you know! I live in Arlington, and their offices are a few miles from where I live. I'm literally going in in person. Crossing my fingers, but I'll letyou know.
What do you mean by its a risk to request EE from EQ and EX?
@CorySoccer Wow . . . TransUnion has been the easiest to work with for me and Equifax has been the absolute worst! How were you successful with Equifax? Did you speak with their overseas staff? I have one adverse item on my Equifax report scheduled to drop-off in 12/2022 . . . My TransUnion and Experian reports are 100% clean. If you are still having issues with TransUnion and Experian, just let me know and I will provide the number for their Executive Resolutions Team/Special Handling Team. Wishing you success in getting all adverse items deleted!!!
@babygirl1256 Ask to the special handling department at Equifax! I can't stress that enough lol. So ask to speak to a supervisor. When they give yout the runaround, ask to speak to the special handling department. The people who answer it live in the US, and they will hook you up. They've been a godsend. I have everything removed except for the 2 medical collections which only show up on Experian. I've tried getting these removed to no avail...but it's too early for an EE and since they'll fall off in about a year, I don't want to pay them so I'll just wait. Unless you have some way to get them removed? Anyways, hope this helps!
