This negative is scheduled to fall off my husband's report in April of 2017. We had been contacted by a collections agency regarding the account back in 2012. At the time we offered to settle the account but they did not accept the settlement offer. We haven't heard from them since. We are wanting to buy a house around the middle of next year. Will this account keep us from being able to do that? Is it still killing his score each month even though it hasn't updated since 2013? I'm trying to figure out if we should wake the sleeping bear and contact Honda Finance to settle or should we leave it alone until it falls off the credit reports?
If PFD cannot be accomplished, let it be for now and get with a loan officer and ask if it is necessary to have it removed. Simply paying it will just cause it to update and this can bring your scores down even more.
After they repo'd the vehicle, what was the final accounting on the remaining debt after they sold the vehicle?
Stated differently, what is your remaining debt obligation, if any?
They claimed the 7k was the difference between what we owed and what the bike sold for plus a bunch of fees added on.
