How to approach this Collection?

I just started my journey with credit repair. Unlike before im now paying attention to phone calls and voicemails from CA. Enterprise Recovery Systems has been calling me asking for a call back. There  is nothing on my report from them. I want to call them back but want to make sure not to do or say the wrong thing. I'm thinking of telling them that i have not receivede a dunning notice and have them send it and then DV them. My inention is to pay if its mine and we could settle for less. Should i just get to the bottom of it from my first call? How do i make sure that they "will not" post this to my CR if i make payment arrangements.

Don't be afraid to call them. Ignoring it will not get you anywhere so just take a positive proactive approach and call.

Get them to fax or email you stating they will not report this to any cra if you pay or settle before making payment.

If it's not on your report and you have not recieved anything from them I wouldn't stir anything up by calling. It may be a debt that doesn't belong to you or something that's out of SOL. I'm not advocating not paying for your debt but just giving some advice.

Re: How to approach this Collection?

Yeah you could ignore it. Then it could appear on your credit report and take longer to disappear IF they decide to allow a PFD.
If it doesn't belong to you then it's easily taken care of by debt validation.
If the SOL has passed then you don't have to worry about it reporting. Maybe a judgement. But you have more room to negotiate a settlement for less than due.
I just don't see how ignoring it is beneficial.
They are currently aware of the debt since they call so your not bringing it to their attention.

I do wish that they were not on my reports but both are unfortunatly! Amex is due to fall off 09/15 and Macys 10/15 as stated on my Transunion report. I have two other paid charge offs that will fall off in 2017. Macys has not updated since 2009 and Amex was updated 11/14. So I assume that I should just let them both fall off them call to pay in full especially if I am looking to get back in with Amex?

Re: How to approach this Collection?

You should know who you haven't paid unless someone stole your identy (yes even family members and gf/bf count when they do this).  You pay DEARLY when it hits your CR...and do you really wanna be like the others spending hours trying to cough up letters and have to save the money to pay so that you can improve your credit?  I just got hit with a CO from an account I forgot about....I verified with the debt with the OC.  I didn't want to waste time waiting for the CA to send me a letter and find that my report got dinged in the meantime.

Call and just verify what it's for.  If it isn't or you know for a fact it's inaccurate, you will always be able to dispute it.  Remember, that it has to be a valid debt.  You also don't want your report getting hit twice.  LIke Jackilee suggested, call and get it verified.  Your goal is to only get it resolved.  Depending on the amount owe and your financial situation, negotiate pay contingent upon them not reporting to the CAs.  And yes, get it in hard copy.  I waited on the phone til I got the letter in email before paying.
