How to find out DOFD?

I don't see anywhere on my credit report on the baddies where it tells me the DOFD.  How can you get this or am I looking at the report wrong.  I see alot of other dates or can I just call the Credit Bureaus and ask?

Re: How to find out DOFD?

Where are you getting those reports?

You really need a full credit report which you can only get from the CRA directly.

If DOFD is not shown, look for something that says "this account scheduled to remain until"

Yes, you can call and ask. May be on hold for a while, make certain you say you are not disputing the account, just gathering more information on the account.

Re: How to find out DOFD?

Sidewinder, your info on that date is misleading. I have an account on my CR, I got the CR from TU, and the date it falls off is reported as Dec/2014, it was just put on there this past December, and it is from an old cable tv account that is over 14 years old. It does not show the DOFD or the DOLA only the "Report Date" from the CA. This account that I am now fighting with the CRA's and the CA over having it removed is still on my EQ, TU report as of this morning EX removed it, but said if it is "validated" they will put it back on.

We all know CA's lie all the time, and re-age and try to recollect old debts (even those paid off)... but the question still stands, as asked by the above person... where does one find the DOFD?

Re: How to find out DOFD?

Now, if the question was how to find out of the DOFD is accurate or not, then the answer would be different.

However, I answered the question that was asked, which was how to find out DOFD on your CR.

And the answer still stands...........you will need a full credit disclosure report directly from the CRA themselves to find this information or to call them. You won't find the DOFD on reports pulled by a 3rd party reseller, or not on any I've seen or heard about.

Re: How to find out DOFD?

Sidewinder, I agree, I actually get my reports from the CRA's directly, and the dates they are reporting are still way "newer" than the dates of the real DOFD/DOLA. For example I paid off a collection earlier this year... it was mine and the DOFD was in 2004, date reported was Nov/2007 with a drop off of Nov/2014. I don't think they all play by the rules. I am sure dates are reaged, and I know it is illegal but the CA's don't seem to care. Can you sue for this?

Re: How to find out DOFD?

It was the actual CR from a Transunion dispute they sent me a copy of the dispute via email.

I do see where it says this account scheduled to remain until ............... but it does not show me the DOFD so that I know it is accurate or not.  I thought maybe I was reading it wrong.  Maybe I do have to call them to ask.  I think some are wrong if I am correct in assuming that the 7.5 years of from the DOFD.

Thank you

Which report is this?

Most won't show a DOFD and a drop off date, from what I recall.

It should drop based on DOFD not date reported.

If they are reporting a wrong DOFD, then you need to read the thread about re-aging.

First step is to dispute based on FCRA Compliance Date.

Count backwards 7-7.5 years.

For example, if it says the account should remain until December 2008, then DOFD would be around June-December 2001.

If counting backwards don't give you a DOFD that jives with your records, then you need to do some investigating and see if they are re-aging.
