How to properly dispute a negative on my Credit Report.

I have one bad account on my credit report.  Transunion doesnt show it anymore. Im sure they dropped it. Its been atleast 9 years already from what i know. If i am not mistaken its 7 years correct? that it stays on your report? Its an express old account. I called Express they said i do not appear on their system anymore. How do i dispute this. Only EX and EQ show it.

No i do not. I dont know the exact date. Cant find it on my report.

I'm no expert, but if Express is saying they don't show you in their system anymore, I would dispute with the CRAs.  If they can't verify, they have to delete.

Well i called experian. They told me its not a negative item on my report. Apparently express sold it as an account in good standing.... and when it was closed. It was closed as an account in good standing makes no sense to me, because i never paid it. Oh well aslong as its not hurting me and its been reporting since April 2003 as good standing closed April 2009 in good standing.
