Hi All,
I have 1 Judgment in all 3 of my CRA's from 2010 scheduled to stay until 2017. I have disputed it with all 3 CRA's and waiting for results ( as of 5 days ago TU partially updated and is now showing $0 Balance but its still reporting).
EX and EQ shows balance of $1224 even though i have a copy of a Judgment Satisfaction Letter from CA/Lawyer showing it to be paid May 2013. I also spoke to CA/Lawyer and she said they did not report it to CRA's so therefore they can't send a request to remove it.
What gives here?? If the the CA/Lawyer did not report it then how are the CRA's getting this information and putting this on my report?
Whats my next move to hopefully get this off my report? any and all advice would be greatly appreciated... also im now in California and this judgment was filed in Illinois when i used to live there 4 years ago..

Is the Satisfaction recorded in the public records? That would be the way to start. Make sure the Satisfaction is recorded.
Sometimes judgments are reported by another party - for example Lexis.com
A judgment ends up on your credit report because it is a matter of public record; it is not reported by a CA or even the OC. In Illinois, when a judgment has been paid/satisfied, the plaintiff should file a release/satisfaction of judgment with the court. You can then get an order vacating the satisfield judgment, and then provide documentation to the CRAs and request that the judgment be removed from your credit report.
In my case, all of the right filings with the court were done without any action from me. I had a default judgment against me because I didn't show, they garnished my wages to pay the judgment, the plaintiff filed a release and the judge granted the vacate order. I found out the status by pulling up the case records online (this is available in Cook County; I'm not sure about other Illinois counties). I printed those out, included them in a dispute to the CRAs, and they all removed it. Before I did this, the judgment wasn't even showing as paid even though it had been over 2 yeras since it was satisfied.
Good luck getting it removed!
should i send the Judgment Satisfaction letter to the CRA's? Will they remove the judgment from my reports if they receive the letter?
