I Need help with a Plan of Attack!

I have some baddies that i'm not sure how to handle. Every time i think i have a plan i second guess myself.

Last month i applied for a personal loan and i was denied. I tried with my BF as co-signer and it was denied that way as well. It appears as though i will be able to get his credit score to rise fairly easily thanks to this forum but my credit is another matter.

Capital One - I have 2 late payments from February 2012 and March 2012 that i attempted to have removed with a phone call. Customer service guy i spoke with was pleasant and genuinely seemed as though he wanted to remove them but said he was unable to see them in his system. Since then i remembered that my Capital One account was originally a HSBC account. I don't know if that makes any difference.Anyway, i typed up a goodwill letter but now i am having second thoughts. The LO told me they aren't significant because my payment history is over 98%. Is that something i should be concerned about when applying for a loan?

Should i try the goodwill letter or should i leave them alone since they are the only late payments i have and are already older than 2 years?

Credit Protection Associates - The orinal amount was $96 and it lists the balance at $27. It is scheduled to fall off in 1-2018. I called them and paid the full balance before i realized i should have requested something in writing about removal. The woman who took my payment did say that it would be removed, should i believe it? The LO told me this is an insignificant amount but it would only help my score even though it isn't really hurting anything. To me that just seemed odd, bad is bad and good is good lol.

Do you think i should send a goodwill letter or give it some time and see what happens?

Midland Funding LLC - This company is my nightmare. It isn't scheduled to fall off until 5-2019 and i don't want to have to deal with them that long. They have been calling me since they received the account in Oct 2013, at some points it was twice a day 6 days a week. I finally got smart enough to tell them to stop calling me on the telephone and only correspond through the postal service. No more calls but i haven't received ANYTHING from them in writing, ever. Last time i spoke with them it was awful, i wanted to know how they calculated their balance of $1241 when the original balance was $909. Because of that, they now report the account as disputed. I didn't realize the harm in a simple question.

The loan officer said that was my biggest baddie because they can't help me at all as long as there is a dispute over $1000. The best i could get them to negotiate on the phone was $1000 but i don't want to pay that much without knowing why its so high and i simply can't pay that right now. I tried to get them to go down to $700 and they just won't budge. I got the impression that they also won't delete, even if PIF.

One person i spoke with from the company told me they would be able to negotiate more if i sent them bank statements, copy of social security card, drivers license and some other information. Ummm NO! I was a victim of identity theft once and there is no way i would ever send that sort of stuff to someone i don't know, can't trust and especially not through snail mail. That's the thing that has me really mad at this company.

I just searched through all of my file box and discovered that the last thing i received in the mail having to do with this debt is a statement from another company.
It's from NCC Services in Florida. Does that mean it was sent to them originally and then sold to Midland?

And i just noticed this on my credit report - Remarks: ACCT INFO DISPUTED BY CONSUMR; >PLACED FOR COLLECTION< - I don't remember ever disputing this, at worst i asked why there was such a high fee added.

Should i request that Midland validate the debt since they seem to not have any information for me? I am so confused and unsure what to do here.

I may be able to pay in full in a couple of months, i am waiting on a tax return balance from 2012 unless it's taken and applied to my BF's student loans.

I just want to buy a house. Smiley Sad  Where i live, this is complicated enough when you have excellent credit, impossible with good or lower credit unless you pay cash. I am trying to avoid rent to own at all costs because it is highly expensive here compared to renting or a mortgage and i don't know too many people that actually made it through to ownership.

Wow this is long, i am sorry for that but thank you in advance! Smiley Happy

Edited to add the part about the midland dispute comment

Re: I Need help with a Plan of Attack!

Hello!

I have seen people get success by contacting Capital One via their online chat. Try them that way.

For the other two companies, yes, I think you should send a debt validation.

GOAL - 700 FICO across the board!

Re: I Need help with a Plan of Attack!

Last night i tried the chat app with Capital One. Not so sure how that went, at the end of the conversation i was rather confused. There was what seemed to be a language issue at first. I guess i will try to be patient and see what happens with that. Patience is not one of my virtues.

This morning i woke up and there was an alert from CreditKarma (i don't trust too much as far as their scoring and numbers) so i checked it out. They are showing only one derogatory account now. The amount that i paid to Credit Protection Associates is not showing. I hope that means they kept their word about removing it from my credit report.

Today i will work on the DV letter for Midland Funding. I really wish i could just PFD and be done with them but they are impossible. If they would give me straight answers i would probably be willing to make payments and take the punishment. Smiley Sad
