I am attempting to remove 13 lates for DH and I want your help!

Hello Folks,

I am excited to begin a process of trying to remove 13 lates on DH report.  We are going to be purchasing a home by the end of the year and a boost to his score will save us hundreds in interest! I would like to begin this process and continue to update all of you on the progress regularly. Nothing would make me happier than to have your support.  By the way, you guys helped my score : ) I will be reaching a 700 once I pay down a CC in 2 months! Thank you for that!

Anyhow, here are a list of accounts I will be making the attempts on:

Gemb/PepBoys 30 days Late 7/07

Hsbc/Rs 90Days Late 1/07, 60 days Late 2 times 2/07, 30 days Late 2 Times

Citifinancial Retail 30 Days Late 3/08, 4/08

Cap One CC 30 Days Late 1/07, 7/07, 7/08

Chase CC  30 Days Late 7/07 (This one is closed)

Pacific Comm. CU 30 Days Late 4/06

He has paid off all of these accounts to a zero balance except for Cap One, & Pacific Comm.

Please give me advice on ANYTHING.  Sample Letters, successful back door numbers, fax numbers, stories, etc.

I appreciate your help.

You have to be careful of GW on a closed account. It is easier for them to delete the complete TL and they are known to do it.

Hi,

So are you saying I shouldn't even attempt a GW on this account? Or try to have them delete the TL? Is deleting a TL bad?

You would not want a TL deleted if it is an old account. Part of your scores are made up from your length of history.

On a closed account with late payments, But it was not a CO, this account remains on your CR for 10 years. The late payments will fall off 7 years from the date reported as late.

I've had GW luck with CapOne and Chase in removing adverse accounts.  HappyDays is right about them sometimes just deleting the account entirely from your reports.  These two were actually some of my older accounts, 2000 for Chase and 2001 for CapOne (only have a 10 year history).  We had lates and then a BK in 2004 so it really was better for us to have the TL's deleted.  It's different for everyone though.  Other creditors I GW'd did just remove lates though, depends on the creditor.

Great.  So I am going to try and GW all of them and if Chase deletes the TL I don't think it will be a big deal because DH has so many other accounts in good standing that were never late.  How long does it normally take to receive responses? Should I make follow up calls to confirm they received the letters?
