Good evening,
I could use a bit of clarification on 2 questions and I know I sort of asked this before but for some reason I'm still a bit confused on details.
I get the impression late payments don't qualify for EE, is this correct?
I have 4 late payments from 2017 they are consecutive months Jan - Apr 2017. Do these fall off in a string ( all at once ) or do they drop off one per month? I though I read someplace they drop as a string if consecutive.
I have a charge-off from 2017 that according to TU and EX is set to drop in Feb 2024... EQ states Mar 2024
This is reported monthly and not paid off, there is still a balance... Is this still eligable for an EE from TU and EX?
Or is it only for paid off accounts? EQ I will be leaving alone...
Thanks in advance

I get the impression late payments don't qualify for EE, is this correct? EE is at the discretion of the CRAs in accordance to what their particular policy states, so the answer is both yes, and no, it depends on the CRA. They may, or may not grant an EE on the late payments based on them being too old to report but they should be eligible as they are derogatory information as defined by FCRA

Again this would be at the discretion of the CRA and what their particular policy dictates but most likely they will fall off as they come of age

Be sure when contacting any of the CRAs to inquire about EE or removal of negative information that you aren't disputing the information, or the account. You're only requesting that the negative remark(s) be removed because they are too old

My experiance is that lates are handeled differently by each CRA. Equifax and Experian removed the entire late string at once based on the first late date, but TransUnion did it month-by-month. I did not try for an early exclusion on any of the CRA's for this.

Nice to know about the possibility of them dropping as a string versus month by month... Hopefully, it's more the string than seperate...
I'll have to decide how I want to tackle those as I get closer... Though TU would be eligable beginning this month for the JAN 2017 late...

Thanks,
I appreciate the clarification on both the lates and especially the chargeoff info.. I'll be giving the CO an EE shot in Sept. for TU and possibly this month for the JAN 2017 30 day late, then base the rest on how it goes...
FWIW, I had success recently in getting late payments removed. TU has proactively removed them and I've called TU and Experian to request removal and have had 80% success.
Good luck
