I have a question regarding ... Threads

Is there a reason why myfico forums is keeping other debt and med debt in the same topic area, other then because they are both related to rebuilding your credit?  HIPPA seems to be a hot topic that might deserve it's own place.

It would seem to me that things would be less confusing for most if they were separate topics, different thread all together.

Just curious ... as I read I just always find myself looking back saying ... was this medical or something else.

While I might agree-

HIPPA and medical are covered in 1 message.

If people took the time to read it and follow the instuctions- there would be no need to post additional questions about them.

Well, I agree - and disagree

If people took the time to read it and follow the instuctions- (agreed & disagree) I agree people should take more time and read the thread.  But, what might seem crystal clear to you isn't always clear to someone who is just learning this credit stuff.  I disagree in the sense that I don't think the instructions are that crystal clear after the pre hippa letter and I think others would agree.

there would be no need to post additional questions about them.  Disagree, in the main post for this hippa stuff it states "post your questions" not every situation is the same.  They apparently have another 10 letters regarding hippa for different situations ... thank god no one has to use them that offen.

It was just a thought or suggestion, no harm done.  I have just thought of this before and I saw a post today that didn't state what kind of collection it was and a few people were just saying DV them and no one asking if it was medical.  If they were in a thread that just pertained to medical I think people would be less confused.

That's all.

Re: I have a question regarding ... Threads

I tend to agree that they should be separate myself.

#1 a lot of people who are just getting started may not know that medical collections follow different rules. In fact I have never had a medical collection myself and I have been reading about credit rebuilding for months and have just recently realized that they followed a different process. If one doesn't know there is a difference in how they are handled they may not know to specify that their question is related to a medical collection. If they don't specify and then someone doesn't think to ask they may get advice that ends up making the whole process harder (or nearly impossible) for the person asking the question.

#2 In the time it takes me to post a response or ask my own question and then go back to wait for a response there are sometimes 10-12 new posts ahead of mine. This might cause some people especially those who read or type slower to have their questions buried by those who post faster. If the two types or questions were separated it might eliminate this problem - since the posts are about 50-50.

Yes I agree that if everyone read the instructions there might not be as many questions but there would still be questions. Every situation is going to be different as well as every person will have a different capacity to understand.

It couldn't hurt to try separating them.
