In this partucular house the gas comapny need to access the basement, and yes, I did call them to go there to cancel my services, she refused to let them in!
This information was posted in my first post.
Thanks, it is reporting wrong so I am stuck with this longer on my report then it should be. It actually says March of 2008 or may or 2008, not sure without looking back, but I moved in in December 2006, turned on the services 12/8/2006.
Here's where I got the 2007 thing:
Status: Collection account. $1317 past due as of July 2008. This account is scheduled to continue on record until October 2014.
oh so you think it's not reporting right at all?
I think that I am sending that DV letter tomorrow, I want some proof!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd definitely try to get together any proof that you have in your own records, too.
Please keep in mind that you may have paid a deposit to the gas company. At some point, they would have applied the deposit. If they applied the deposit, then that would start the clock for DOFD.
It's possible that the lady paid some on the gas bill while she was there or that the bank paid some on the gas bill.
You screwed your landlord 2k (2 months of rent). The amount of the gas bill is less than that. You end up coming out ahead on this one. I think you should pay it. It's unlikely that the landlord is coming after you this late in the game to try to collect the unpaid rent.
I guess you would need to ask yourself how important is getting that mortgage? Is it worth it to pay off the collection?
True I did **bleep** her out of 2K, only because I knew that the house was being foreclosed on and I was outta there. It took two months too long. I didn't pay a deposit for the gas company. I am going to send a DV letter out tonight. I am fighting this one. I won't take her to court but I will at least try to see if they can valiadate it. Then if they can prove it, I will have to "cave" in and pay it.
I already paid for deletion on four accounts, four more to go. Hope to see a increase in my scores soon, since they were all recent, within 1-3 year time frame. This gas bill collection is the oldest collection. Should I paid for delete if I can or just pay in full????
In my opinion, pay in full. Then send a goodwill letter asking them to delete from your credit file.
