Re: I think I've got it, but I need a little help...UPDATE!

Capital One is a OC, not a CA-- so not required to respond to your DV.

Did you have an account with Capital One? If so, when was it opened? When did you default?

Is there a CA reporting this or just the OC?

Is it within SOL? Do you owe it?

OC. My CC limit was only $500 and now the total owed is $1,500! (as reported on my CR)

The SOL is 3 years in my state.

Whether you decide to pay is a personal choice.

If it were me, I'd try to negotiate something to 1) Prevent a judgment if within SOL  and 2) Prevent a CA from reporting it as well. But I would also try to negotiate the amount down as well.

I'll call them and negotiate something out. I spoke with a CA about this account a few months ago but that particular CA is not reporting the debt, only the OC. I'll strike a deal and pay it off. Thanks! (Of course it will be in writing)

Re: I think I've got it, but I need a little help...

So, from what I understand, Capital One (OC) no longer have any records of this debt. That means that if you dispute this account (Capital One) with the CRA's (Equifax, Experian, Transunion), the CRA's should not be able to verify this.... right? Meaning, that the Capital One Account that was once Charged Off and sold..... will disappear? Interesting!

Re: I think I've got it, but I need a little help...

I must remind everyone that advocating disputing accurate information is a violation of our guidelines and will get a post deleted.

Now that I got that out of the way, to answer the question.......it doesn't work like that.

First- If you were to dispute(which you wouldn't because we dont dispute accurate information, remember? ), it would likely be verified.

Why? Well, the frontline CSR may or may not see your information any longer, but Capital One more than likely still has it and it is likely still in their credit reporting system that does the automatic reporting/verifying with the CRA.
