Inquiry

Had an inquiry on my TU that I have no idea about. It was from Plaza associates. Does anyone have any info on them? There is no address or phone # on my cr.

Re: Inquiry

I found this link:

http://www.plazaassociates.com/

I think they are a collection agency.  If you dont have any accounts in collections or about to go into collections, I would contact the CRA and despute it.

Re: Inquiry

Thanks! I don't have any accts. that are past due at all. I will definitely use your advise. I have been very diligent on paying my cc's on time and keeping balances at or below 9% util. I hope there is nothing that is going to come up from years ago when I was sick and couldn't pay my medical bills. That was in 1995, could they do that? That is more than 10 years ago.

Re: Inquiry

Plaza Associates is one of the nastiest agancies out there - I have an active suit against them for a hard inquiry right now.

My advise is 1. DV them immediately, 2. Send them a non-PP letter, 3. Complain with AGs, BBB and FTC, and 4. Send them an ITS letter and file suit after the non-PP letter term has gone by.

Re: Inquiry

ok I have never had to do this before, so how do I contact them on the DV, by mail or phone? Then once I get this info what is a non-pp letter? Sorry I am credit illiterate.

Re: Inquiry

Never contact a CA by phone. You want to send the DV letter CMRRR.

Re: Inquiry

BTW, they also collect on old insurance accounts. Have you changed insurance companies midterm on car or house insurance? You may have an old balance that has not shown up yet on your credit. Some insurance companies only send 1 or 2 bills on it, it seems to go away, then 2-3 years down the road, low and behold, it goes to collection.

Re: Inquiry

So any collection agency can just pull your report? That seems absurd, especially if they never called to say I owed money to anyone.

Re: Inquiry

Welcome to the club!

This is exactly why we encourage to send a Debt Validation letter (per FDCPA 809) and following that a non-Permissible Purpose notification letter and intent to sue.
