I have 3 entries on my TU and EQ reports that I was an authorized user for my father's credit cards. He filed bankruptcy Chptr 7 in 2005 with these accounts listed. If I dispute, would these be taken off? I've seen a couple of posts, one saying I'm not responsible as an authorized user and another saying I am.
I also have 1 collections from a book club for $61 that I paid in 2006. They show it paid and they continue to report, it was updated last month! What do I need to do?
I purchased CDs to educated myself about credit and then found this site. It has similar advice to what I've read hear. One question about correcting items. Is it best to correct all at once or just two at a time (that's the advcie on the CD's)
I appreciate any advice, I've looked at all three FICO's. I'm at 610 EQ, 618 TU, and 664 EX. I know these derogotory items are hurting my scores.
I would appreciate your input. I wish I would have been educated in the credit game a long time ago!

from what i have read on here, if you dispute AU accounts as "not mine", they should be deleted.
even though you paid the book club account, it can still be reported. all you can do is ask them to delete the account from your credit reports. but technically, they don't have to. they can report it as long as they are reporting everything accurately.
as far as disputing things one at a time, i don't have an opinion.....i have been procrastinating on disputing things on my own reports.
Hi cc2009.
As for the AU account, simply contact the OC and get the AU status removed. This is best done by the account holder that made you an AU in the first place, i.e., your dad. You can revoke it yourself, but I would first get dad to send them a letter. While you are still listed with the OC as an AU, then the CRA is not the place to dispute this. If you just dispute with the CRA, they will contact the OC, who will verify that you are still an AU, report this back to the CRA, and you wll have wasted a lot of time.
As for the CA, it will remain in your CR for 7 1/2 years from the DOFD on the original OC account that led to the CA. Paying the account does not remove it. It just makes you look better in a manual review of your CR until it finally drops off.l
Thank you so much for the reply. I'm going to write a GW letter to the CA and see if they will take it off. From the other post, I'll write the OC first and then dispute. I'm unsure of the timing of everything. Do you know if there is a time limit to dispute to CRA?
Thanks again for the info.
Thank you for the info. I'll write the OC and see what happens. My dad passed away in August so I will have to write the letter. From what you've written, it sounds as if I need to write the OC first before writing to CRA.
Thanks again for the speedy response.
