Just getting started, need help already.

This is my first post so please bear with me.  I am attempting to get my credit report cleaned up as I have a lot of old medical collections on it.  I am starting the HIPAA process for the accounts and there are 5 accounts that are being reported and they show up as :

"Unknown opened in January 2001

Status as of Dec 2008

Date Opened Not Reported

DOLA April 2004

Date Closed Not Reported

Account Number Not Reported

Loan Type Not Reported

Largest Past Balance $73

Terms Not Reported

Account Type Open Account

Account Holder Individual

Scheduled Payment amount $0

Description Medical

The dates and amounts owed vary with each of the 5 but how am I supposed to get the CRA to validate if I don't have enough information for them?  Thanks for your help!

What report are you getting these from.  If you haven't then go to annualcreditreport.com and get them directly from the CRBs.  They will probably still mask account numbers but provide a bit more information.  Also, there is an option to dispute online and then they will have access to the account numbers.

Question - have all the medial debts been paid?

No they have not been paid.  It is from the report that came with my scorewatch trial. I will try to get them from freeannualreport.com

Ah. what's the point of the dispute?  Not legal to dispute accurate information in hopes of getting it removed. 

You didn't list amounts (other than the 70$) can you pay them to the providers and follow the HIPAA threads to get them removed from your CR?

I am just following the HIPAA process which says to validate and then to send HIPAA letter with payment.

Get all of your reports directly from the CRAs.  You can get a free report at https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp

Sorry I misunderstood you.  DV is different than a dispute with the CRA.  Correct never pay a CA without a DV. There are sample letters that you can follow that explain a good way to use the process with part of the account numbers have been masked, but you really will find a great deal more information about the OC and/or CA when you get the reprots direclty from the CRA.
