@AnonymousThe CA for National Grid, Associated Credit Services doesn't want to PFD, they said it was illegal nor do they want to settle for anything more than 10%. National Grid won't budge as well. It's only $129 but would like this thing off my credit report, it's the only collections I have
@Dmessina666National Grid won't remove it, I think it was the CA that put it on my report. It's the only account listed on my report in "collections." I called the CA, Associated Credit Services and they said PFD's are illegal and they're willing to settle for 10% but they stated I won't be able to apply for a National Grid account ever again if I chose to settle.
I asked National Grid first about the PFD, they're the ones who provided me with the CA's contact info. I'm totally bummed out about not getting this sorted out after having so much success with Verizon earlier today - they settled my account by half although its still on my report I have a plan (discovered here) on how I can go about possibly getting it removed.
Let me dig a little more and I will see if there are any work around. Honestly, I've negotiated
11 of 12 in the last 3 month and they are all removed except for AD Astra as my two year line
to comply with their tradeline deletion rules begin on August 31st. When was the first date of
delinquency on this account? Or first CO? Oh and by the way... I know this sounds really stupid
but you've got to be an artist with words. Meaning, ask how their day is going, hope that their
families are staying safe. That while these are financially difficult times, you understand that
their job depends on payment and something is better than ignoring it. That you are trying to
do the right thing. It's hard because you have to think quick on your feet and try to have great
emotional awareness through the conversation. Sometimes going straight to business sets
people on the wrong foot. After they gather your information, be positive and light. Believe me,
I have delt with people that I felt from the first 30 seconds it was NOT going to work. Get a good
vibe or escalate to a manager. What is the status of the SOL for this account?
@Anonymous teach me your ways wise one this is all I gathered from my CR
I agree it's important to know and it's been asked quite a few times...What is the date of 1st delinquency from National Grid? Also, why are you just finding out about it? Did they have an incorrect address? Was it a final bill generated after you moved? Most of the time with utilities they shut off your service if you live there, so you know you owe money. If it was a closing bill and they delayed in generating it...I'd escalate with NG directly.
Regardless of what the CA is saying, 1) I'd bet NG could pull it back 2) I think if you had a good enough reason they could delete 3) if you do settle, you could open a new NG account -perhaps with a deposit- but I don't think they can bar you.
So is it National Grid or associated credit services? Do you know the orignial owner (CO) of this account?
@AnonymousI'm in New York, I forwarded my mail after moving and I recieved nothing, I forgot all about it and this was August 2019 that I moved. I haven't recieved anything from them since until this popped up on my CR.
@Anonymous the original owner is National Grid, they provided the service. Associated credit is the Creditor
@Anonymouswhy isn't it being reported to all 3? It doesn't appear for Experian, can I use that to my advantage
Sorry for all the responses. Also, have you submitted a debt validation letter to them?
Their reporting seems very inaccurate. Have they broken any FCRA rules? Called family
member and left messages, disclosed information that was private to only you, have
they called your work or you repeately after asking them to stop. When you can't PFD, we
need to start thinking legality and if they have ever broken FCRA rules, harrassment and
such. Chances are, their recording retentions are not more than 2 years and by the time
you dispute it due to whichever reason, they may not have sufficient information to prove
if they were compliant or not which would push toward a auto deletion.
