Congrats!!
Credit was pretty rough. No bankruptcy but several collections. No public records, but two repo's and charged off cc's and a charged off rent a center furniture loan and a few others. Now I am down to just one open collection account.
Hi Beavis....Can you tell me some tips you used to get the collections off?
Fantastic

Now I am just anxious for the pre-approval sites to catch up. I dont necessarily want to open any new cards but I like seeing if im pre approved. Anybody know about how long it takes for updated scores to potentially influence pre approvals? (I know it isnt all based on score)
EricNeedsa720, I noticed that noone answered your question so here's the best I've got.
I have read several comments to threads that say some (if not most) will store an SP for up to 90 days. What that means is that it's not so much a function of your scores improving but the time between checks needs to age out.
Someone else have any thoughts on this poiint???
It appears as though this may be true. Because although I would never open this card, I do use milestone gold card pre approval as well as cap1 and chase and credit one (etc...) for pre-quals and milestone still pre approves me for a secured card. End of november I was barely breaking into the 600's so im still within that 90 day threshold.
Go ahead and toot your horn. You deserve it and we all like to hear success stories.
Credit rebuilding takes a long time and most of us watch our scores go up and down like a bouncing ball. All you can do is set up your road to recovery. Watching others have success, no matter from where they started, gives the rest of us hope that we will be joining them someday.
Congrats and keep up your good work.

I got in good with my credit union so I added all my collections up went to the back and got a personal loan and paid for deletes on them the one that wouldn't delete I paid then disputed them they are all gone now I might have just gotten lucky and a new account is alot less damage than a negative account
Thanks for the information on getting a personal loan to payoff collections. I was thinking about doing this and now I am more comfortable taking this approach.
I only have 2 collections totalling about 4000. One of the collections is under a payment plan because they sued me and took it to court. I was planning on paying that one off in a few months (by May) and then try to negotiate a settlement on the other one. I'm hopeful that they will delete the collections from my credit report once paid. What approach did you take to get the collections removed? Did you do it yourself or did you hire an attorney?
I will be applying for a mortgage soon so when these collections are removed this will really help boost my scores and get me in 700s .
