Hello MF,
I am a 32 year old professional that is reaching out because i want to fix my situation. I am upset, embarrassed, frustrated, about my credit scores and lack of ability to continue on my life as a functioning adult. I have no kids, i make 50k a year as a project manager. I went to a small private school in which student loan debt really got a hold of me. i feel like i am drowning and its one thing after another. here is a my current situation as of 09/18/13:
TU: 491 (17 Total Lines 9 Derogatory)
EXP: 490 (18 Total Lines 10 Derogatory)
EQ: 510 (19 Total Lines 7 Derogatory)
.
I have had some success using places like lexington law and other credit repair places but i know that isnt the answer now. They help but take, take, take.
i dont know where to start in this journey to get back to a healthy credit score. i make enough to do some PFD's but i dont know whether i should attact my collections accounts or try and see whats going on with the student loans im just all over the place.
I made a mistake previously of coming on here and being in a rush and not listening to people that really know what they are talking about. i wont do that again. i am 100% committed to making a change and whatever people tell me to do i will listen.
right now i have a car i bought at a buy here pay here lot that is showing 60 days late because surprise, surprise after a year its costing me more to fix it than to drive it and i cant afford 2k every other month and the $370 payment to drive a 2000 chevy tahoe work 4k at best.
i am looking for a "heres what you need to do"...thank you all in advance. God Bless
Have you pulled your reports from annualcreditreport.com in the past 12 months? If not, get a report from each CRA.
Are those FICO scores?
These scores are from free score.com and i pulled them today.
They are not FICO scores but FAKOs.
I would get the reports from ACR if you can. Those are directly from the CRAs and are accurate and more detailed.
Once you get those you can list accounts and someone will help you.
i'm sorry i have the annual credit report ones too i just could only get them 1 time earlier this year but they are the same, well have the same data on them. what accounts should i list??
Any thing you need help with. I would not list your entire CR though. A few at a time.
I would start with the newer ones and work back.
Ok great. I am looking for the best initial plan to attact specific CA's i would really like to email but dont know if their is an email version of a pfd and will be googling that after this post! I would love contact info via email if possible.
Calvary Portfolio
Midland Funding
Afni
Enhanced Recovery
i guess that is a good start if you could help with what i should be looking for, how much i should offer initially, and of course any contact information it would be great.
Thank you.
I don't have contact information.
I was speaking more in terms of how they are reporting on your CR to help you. Posting pics of the TLs. You don't want to outright pay something that hasn't updated in a while. It will cause further damage to your score.
How much to offer would depend on how much is owed, how old the debt is etc.
my initial PFD letter was rejected from Afni for a Tmobile bill in the amount of $390. When i spoke to the rep he say i opened the account on July 25, 2006 which in PA is past statute of limitations. what should i do at this point? i realize it starts from the day i last paid on the account but i honestly dont remember when that was. if it is past statute how do i get that information over to the credit reporting agencies to have this trade line deleted?
I know sometimes it feels like a lot of work and a bit overwhelming but take it one step at a time.
What I did was make a list ( i used Excel and a notebook) and listed each collection, with the amount owed, DOFD and who it was for. I did the same thing for my revolving negative TL's.
Once you have this I then figured out which ones were medical and which ones others had success in paying the OC. I found that with my collection accounts I was able to pay the OC on some and the collection was then called back and removed from my CR. This also worked for a Tmobile account I had. I used any extra money I had and paid these off. I then moved on to paying some that could not be paid to the OC. Depending on how old they are and how much you can do PFD's for them.
My revolving TL's included 2 FP cards that were CO'd. I tried to GW but didn't work. The balance was 0 so they are just there for about 2 more years.
My other negative TL was an auto loan that ended up in repo. It is still showing a definancy balance and I haven't touched this. It is out of SOL so I am not sure what to do with it because I cannot even come close to a good settlement right now.
The only other thing I had were student loans. I have some lates from 2007 that hopefully will be falling off soon. I rehabed my loans a few years ago and they have been good ever since.
I hope this helps. I was able to take my EQ Fico from 561 in mid May to 649 as of today. My EX is at 680 and my TU is over 700 (both lender pulls) so it can be done.
