Looking for help....(many issues)

Hello! I have been lurking on this site for a few months. My and my husband's credit were in the tank when I started (480's) and now they are both up to 550. So far to go, though. We had been behind on our mortgage and car loan and we are current now and plan to stay current so that will help. We both got a Capitol One secured card last month so that should help too. My main issue is collections and past lates on student loans. All the collections have been paid off, some old and some recent. I am planning to send goodwill letters to beg for deletion. Can anyone provide me with the best contact info (mail or email) for the following folks:

Portfolio Recovery

Cavalry

Capitol One

First Premier

Paypal Charge Card

Amazon Charge

A long and humbling list. I was also wondering if it would be a good idea to take out a second secured card with Sky Blue? The Capitol One card gave our scores a boost but I didn't know if a second card would too. Obviously, we are keeping the balance LOW.

Thank you!

Re: Looking for help....(many issues)

I also wanted to add that we are hoping to get our scores to at least 620 by August to sell our house and qualify to buy a different house. I know that is ambitious but I have no problem harrassing people like a psycho if I have to. In a moment of desperation I signed up with Lexington Law last week and THEN read the reviews on this site about them. Should have done that first, I know. I cancelled and they did not give me a problem about it.

How long have you been current on your mortgage?  You may take longer than your realize to get your scores over 620.

Portfolio and Calvary are tough nuts to crack.  I wish I had info to message you with, but I don't.  I wish you luck in your journey!

Starting Score: 472
Current Score: EQ:703 TU: 729 EX:737
Goal Score: 750

Yes, a second card for each of you would definitely help. But as the previous poster pointed out, depending on how recent your lates were, it may take much longer than a few months to rehab your scores. Generally you need to be at least 12 months out from any lates just to qualify for any mortgage financing - ideally 24 months.

Three bank cards at a minimum are whats recommended for good score growth. Let the Cap One cards report a couple of cycles and then app for Platinum cards from Cap One.

Re: Looking for help....(many issues)

Does anyone have any addresses for Cavalry and Portfolio Recovery? I did get one local collection agency to delete so that was encouraging.
