Making progress, but still need help....

26, made some poor choices in my youth that have affected my credit scores, looking for any and all advice to get my self back on track and 700+

had a suzuki motorcycle loan in 07, 3 years, paid in full in good standing, around that same time a chase visa student card was issued to me with a 500 dollar limit that was promptly maxed out like an idiot and never paid till it got sent to collections and was a settlement. a honda financial car loan for a year in 08 in good standing then sold. 2011 purchased a truck fianced through ally auto, 40k loan, decent down payment, intrest rate was 4.9% by my self with a 550ish credit score. kept truck for 2 years, with 4-5 late payments, 30s and one 60. sold truck and loan was paid in full.

Have had a cap one platinum card since 2011 as well, was a 500 dollar limit and i never, ever touched it. started to use it and with in a year of use and good payments got bumped to a $3500 limit

once again, had an issue with a Cabelas club card through foremost bank, was a charge off. Not sure what the proper way of handing this account is, and no one has tried to collect on it until just recently upon looking at my experian report and is being reported by cks financial.

Had a handful of parking tickets and red light tickets showing up as being collected, those were all paid for delete and helped greatly.

Currently have a lease through Honda Financial, was approved for the lease with a 560 credit score, consistant with what the cap one trans union shows.  past 15 months never an issue with payment. opened a cap one platinum card for to see what would happen, app got submitted twice somehow and i would up with two platinum cards in the mail, one with a 1k limit, one at 500. Figured why not roll with them both, and combine them for one card with a higher limit after 6 months. Also have a recent barclay rewards card with a 2,000 limit.

Utilization amungst the 4 is at 32% and decreasing monthly

More or less i am looking for some advice to clean up the rest of this stuff, get my self 700+ and hopfully ready for home ownership in a few years, also would like a spg amex or saphire prefered card in the collection.

What do i need to do about the charge off?

I have a 200 dollar account showing collections from 12 that was from ipass violations, collections company will not pay for delete. best to simply pain in full and be done?

Any other helpful tips to keep growing/ moving this score forward. have gone from a 550 in 14, to a 607 as of today via the transunion score reported by the cap one app, and credit karmas Transunion shows 671 and equifax is a 619

Thanks in advanced

List your bad account that you want removed so we'll have a clearer picture.

Re: Making progress, but still need help....

A charge-off must become excluded from your credit report no later than 7 years plus 180 days from the DOFD on the debt.

If the debt has continually been delinquent beginning with the DOFD with no payments, then the SOL for bringing legal action is also most likely running from that same DOFD.

What is the DOFD?

What is the SOL on the debt in your state?

Those two considerations may affect how you wish to address the unpaid debt.

While neither credit report exclusion nor expiration of SOL will discharge the debt, they will make it difficult for others to become aware of the unpaid debt, such as by pulling your credit report of seeing a judgment in the public record.

You might still be required to disclose any unpaid, deliquent debt as part of a mortgage application process, for example, so the issue could still arise.

It could still be beneficial to pay the debt, even after credit report exclusion and/or expiration of SOL.

Re: Making progress, but still need help....

cks financial. Anyone have any experience with them and a possible pfd? strange as it only shows on my experian report, not the other two.

also, the 200 dollars from a collection agency that will not pfd but is many years old, best to simply pay it up and be done?

I would not "simply" pay it...you need it gone. A paid collection is worse than an unpaid because it renews the collection, thus dinging your score. Is it past SOL? i assume so.

google CKS Financial CEO, email, corporate address etc. Try and work a PFD from that angle. It may take some time...don't give up until you succeed!
