07/20/17 Update:
The Verizon collection with Jefferson Capital Systems was deleted off of my BF's TransUnion report after I disputed it twice. It is still on his Equifax, so I disputed it again. Why wouldn't they just take it off of both reports at the same time?
His civil judgment fell off (yeah!) and so did the initial repossession account. So now, the only derogatory he has is the $890 cable bill (which is only reporting on his Equifax report). We couldn't find the equipment in our garage, so I will probably offer a pay for delete or just let it fall off. I think it is scheduled to fall off next May.
We received the Credit One cards and paid in full. Interesting to note, when we received the cards, the $19 additional user fee was a posted transaction so we immediately paid that. The annual fee of $75 was not available in his available credit but it wasn't posted so we couldn't pay it. I checked every day trying to pay it before the statement cut - no luck. The statement cut on July 19th and guess what, there was a 24 cent finance charge on the annual fee - sneaky bastards.
His Fingerhut account is paid in full, but is reporting as an installment account - I've read that once it reports paid in full, it will revert to a reporting as a revolving account???
Made the first payment on his Self Lender account. Self Lender says it should show on his credit reports by the end of August.
We've been using the Discover and paying every couple of days as soon as the charges post. The statement cuts on July 27th so right now, there is only an $11 balance.
Credit One and Self Lender aren't reporting yet so once they do, I'll check with Credit Check Total to see what is FICO scores are.
Have been checking Capital One prequal for him every couple of days but still no pre-approved offers for him.
Logged into Credit Check Total today because I couldn't wait and his FICO scores are:
TU - 535
EQ - 608
EX - 588
Credit One is reporting.
Self Lender not reporting.
I think the TU score is so low because both the $2100 and $2500 collections were deleted.
My Verizon just got to Jefferson. Why and how did you dispute ?

I actually had to dispute this account twice. I went through Credit Karma and I believe I put inaccurate information as the reason. The first time they reported everything was correct and left it on his report. I immediately disputed it again (I think I went through Credit Karma, but only disputed it for TU) and the second time they deleted it off of his TU report, but it's still reporting on his Equifax.
So I just disputed it again for the second time going through Equifax's site directly.
What was your reason for disputing ?

I didn't give a specific reason - they give you like 10 - 15 choices to choose from and I just checked the check box that says "inaccurate information" and clicked submit. I didn't have to give a detailed reason or explanation or anything.
But it was valid, per se ?

Technically speaking, yes, as in he/we owed this debt. I believe this came from when we switched from Verizon to T-Mobile. I think this outstanding balance was from early termination fees and equipment fees for the phones. Like there was some clause in the contract that if we terminated early, we have to pay the full retail price of our phones and not the promotional deal or something to that effect.
Sportsmom - nice work so far.
He's very lucky to have you in his life, and to also have you helping him with his rebuild....
