Please give me some advice. I just want to state this is not my debt. I'm not trying to get out of paying for something. BUT the process is just NOT FAIR.
There is a collection agency reporting a medical collection on all 3 of my reports. Two of the reports have verified the information.
Information:
Collections Agency: ARS Account Resolution
Original Creditor: Kadlec Medical in Richmond WA/Northwest ER Physicians
Date of Service: 5/26/10
ER visit for son
I originally disputed this account as I have never been to WA nor had any services done around 5/26/10. The results for 2 reports came back "updated" with just Northwest ER Physicians as the original creditor. Kadlec has no information on me or my son. I then contacted Northwest Medical. Was told that there may be a mistake in the billing (name is familar) and they would have to request the charts to verify the account. They have my son's name in their system because they do billing all over the country. Keep in mind that bill (in 2005) was paid for. I double checked with that hospital today to make sure they did not have any balance. The collect agency claims they have an itemized bill that they were supposed to mail, fax, email (conflicting answers when I call). Yet, I have not received a thing.
I left a message from Northwest in regards to this itemized bill (as I am not waiting two weeks for a chart that is not mine). They have yet to return my call.
This is the only deliquency on my credit reports. I was in the high 700's and am in the process of looking to buy a home. PLEASE PLEASE help me understand how they can do this and what I can do to rectify the situation.
Thanks so much for your help!
Have you sent a DV Letter to the CA yet? Send it CMRR.
They are suppose to stop all collection activity when they receive a DV until they can provide the information requested/required by law. But note, the day they put it in the mail, email it to you, or fax it to you, they can resume all activity again.
I did send a DV letter a few days ago. Northwestern has contacted me to let me know that they are pulling it back from the reporting agency as they also realize that this is not mine. My question now is, can they get away with this?
Oh yeah.... at least they are pulling it back from the CB and acknowledging it's not yours.
I posted awhile back that some CA put a collection on my CR - they have the wrong name and the wrong address! My FICO scored plummented from the 800's to the 600's. ![]()
I reached out to the CA -- limited contact with VERY limited information -- and the people said they would be happy to update the file with MY name and MY address and MY phone number. I said no thanks. They never sent a dunning letter. (Probably because they have a different name and a different address, but apparently my ss#!)
It royally sucks.
I don't fight it more because I did that once before and didn't win that fight. In the end, I let it fall off.
My score is now back up to the 700's...but it's got a ways to go before it reaches the previous numbers. The CA is the only negative thing on my CR. I think, but can't be sure, that this might have been the CA that was pulling my CR often a few years ago. The CB deleted the inquiries.
SO - on the bright side, they are deleting. I am sorry you have gone through all of this - it's frustrating.
I'd ask them for a letter verifying that it is not your debt and you are not responsible for payment. A "just in case".
