Hi,
New posting to this particular forum as I usually stay on the Mortgage site, but this issue might be more suited and possibly get an answer here.
So I have been disputing the charge for the last two years, but since I am trying to buy a house, I called and asked if they would do a PFD and from others' posts I knew that this particular company would not do so. It was just $25.20 so I paid it. The issue is that the date they say the EOB shows is Sept 2011 but the date the CA reports on my report is 02/21/2012. Is that something that can be changed or am I stuck with that date until June 2018? They do not report to TU just EX and EQ. Any advise would be appreciated.
Equifax FICO 850/ Score 5 710
TU 826/ Score 4 797
Experian 840/ Score 2 699

If the EOB is the billing date from the OC the date in 2012 is the date the CA got the collection, they still have to operate from the accounts DoFD as far as the max time it can remain on file. I would start a GW letter campaign to the CA asking for its removal.
Thanks for the reply, should I ask EX and EQ to change the date of the account to September 2011 and would that help to increase my credit score? Right now the date assigned is the only date present, so that may not even be an option... This collection company does not answer emails or letters at all, they state that removing anything from a credit report is illegal. Not sure who or where I would send anything, anyone else have thoughts on that part?

No, they are not going to change a factual date, the DoFD must be reported to them within 90 days of them reporting it on your CR you can call the CRAs to get the DoFD. A goodwill deletion is not illegal that is not a true statement what the law says is correct info must be reported but it doesnt dictate that a TL must be reported.
EQ and EX are not likely to change that date for you. It would not affect your scores anyway.
You are looking at an item date that is inconsequential and meaningless from the consumers end. This is merely the date that the collection agency received collection authority. Nothing more, nothing less. It has no other meaning or relevance to it.
Get your full free reports from annualcreditreport.com and you will see the DoFD on the EQ report. Thats the date that determines when this item becomes excluded from your reports.
