Re: Medical Collections Question....

This is very interesting. This collection might or might not be tanking your scores. I assume you can pay this? If so, start the HIPAA process in the link below. You MUST use letter #1 first. Send it to the CRAs via CMRRR.

Re: Medical Collections Question....

hi fused,

Right now I feel my name could be similar. lol

If you wouldn't mind briefing me on the ultimate purpose for each of these letters.

Yes i can pay this one, but the thing is I have several others which are much more $  than this one.

*(and yes these debts are mine to pay after 1 yr to get my health back and another 1yr sorting thru a huge mess trying to figure out if insurance pymts were made properly.  Some I found had to be resubmitted blah blah blah.  I have about 7-8 medical accts left to straighten out on my CR reports.)

My anxiety comes from the fact, that after I send all these letters out, will I need to pay them all off at once?   This could be difficult for me at this moment.

thanks again for responding.

Re: Medical Collections Question....

The HIPAA letter process requires you PIF all of your debt(s), unless you can prove other HIPAA or reporting violations by the CA. The latter would require a lot of digging around, reading, letter writing and possibly retaining a kick butt consumer affairs attorney. Again, you cannot start the HIPAA letter process if you can't pay your debts in full. It won't work, that is almost guaranteed.

Re: Medical Collections Question....

Ok, I did the pre-Hippa letter to CRA's.  I got this today from Transunion:

"Thank you for contacting Transunion.  Our goal is to maintain complete and accurate information on consumer credit reports.  We have provided the information below in response to your request.

Re: Verification Documents not Available

We store information in our records as it is supplied to us by creditors.  When information is disputed, we are required to investigate and record the current status of the information.  We do not provide dispute verification responses recieved from creditors.  If you need to obtain documentation or written verification concerning your accounts, then please contact your creditors directly.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact Transunion at the address shown below, or visit us .....blah, blah, blah...."

Re: Medical Collections Question....

Hello Everyone,

New here and a little confused...

Okay, earlier this year, had a complicated pregnancy.  I was admitted to the hospital and gave my insurance info at that time.  For whatever reason, my insurance was never submitted, therefore the entire balance came to me.  The twist is, NOW, I have reached my limit for the year with this ins.  At the time I was admitted, however, I HAD NOT.  The hospital's name is reported on the CR, but not the Drs.  What would be my first step and what does this mean in my situation if anything:

(insert b) This account is in error. It has either been paid, is a billing error,or was not transmitted in a timely manner to my insurance company. It is not a valid bill and has been properly disputed, therefore I request complete deletion from all your agent (name of CA)'s records and archives.

Also,

I have 3 other medical bills on my on my CR and for OC they have: MED1 02 UNIV EMERGENCY PHYS PLLC(2X) and MED1 LCA LAB CORP OF AMMERICA.

Are these the names of the original creditors??  Is it supposed to say "masked"?  Sorry to be so slow, new at this...

hi I am fairly new to this site, but have been reading  alot of threads to gain insight. I did read this entire thread as I have a  similar situation.

I am confused as to what info is actually shown with regard to medical CA accts with regard to HIPPA and FCRA .

The credit reports I received in the mail from CRA's show all medical info such as facility, dr name, etc.

Although, a copy of a merged report from a mortgage broker who is trying to refinance my mtg shows almost all medical accts as "unpaid medical" with none of the  info that is displayed on CR from CRA.

Only one displayed "Suncoast Adv Rad".

Are you saying the reports your mortgage broker pulled didn't show the actual name of some of the OC's (physician, hospital or other facility) on your collections? Are you absolutely sure? There has been some debate as to whether the reports we pull are different from the reports lenders and other creditors pull. I'm trying to get to the bottom of this.

Hey Fused:

Maybe this will help a little???Smiley Wink  If nothing else it will throw a little more confusion into the mix of whether or not medical collections are masked?????Smiley Surprised

In July I ordered all three credit reports from MYFICO for DD.  All three myfico reports show original OCs name on medical collections.

In July I also ordered all three credit reports directly from EX, EQ and TU via annualcreditreport.com
All three reports show original OCs name on medical collections.

In July I also ordered a Truecredit 3 in 1 merged report.  Only Equifax report on the 3-1 was masked. Other two credit reporting agencies, EX and TU did not "mask" original OCs name.

We have just applied for a mortgage.  I will be speaking with the loan officer in a day or two and I will ask if the medical collections were masked.  I know she pulled an EQ report because the inquiry showed up a couple of days ago?

DallasLoanGuy may be a good one to ask about how medical collections are showing up on credit reports pulled by lenders or possibly ShanetheLoanGuy?????
