Medical Collections help

I have a medical bill in collections that is listed as an open account. The original creditor is the hospital and the CA Medical Data Systems. The balance is $2,126. I don't remember it being that much, but I was in a bad spot and threw all of that mail out as soon opened it(dumb, I know)
I can start making payments now, but I'd like it off my credit report. Should I call them and set up a payment arrangement, or wait until I have enough cash to pay the full balance and try to do a PFD?
I'm a little bit scared to do the latter because I saved to pay a Synchrony Bank charge off and got a letter saying they sold the account the day before I planned on sending my PFD letters 😐

Re: Medical Collections help

Google the HIPAA Letter Process follow it exactly as laid out. If you have problems finding the website or any questions PM me.

Re: Medical Collections help

It is usually diffiecult to obtain any PFD.

It is rare that a debt collector will agree to a PFD in advance of receipt of full payment.

You can request a commitment to delete once all payments are made, but I would not count on acceptance.

Give ti a try.......

Re: Medical Collections help

For unpaid medical debt that is reporting on your CR:

1. Call the OC and see if you qualify for Charity Care
2. If not then ask that they recall the collection in exchange for full payment
3. Send the reporting CA a PFD offer
4. Google the HIPAA Process and contact its creator for help
