Medical Collections - need help

Hello all,

Let me start by saying I am super new to this credit cleanup thing. I've already lost $1500 to someone saying they would help clear my credit and doing absolutely nothing. Now I am trying to do everything on my own and its very intimidating.

I've pulled 2 of my 3 reports from annualcreditreport.com. Equifax told me I have to verify who I am so I'll be snail mailing for that one.  Anyway, on the other 2 there are medical collections. I am in my 20's and do not have any medical insurance. Unfortunately I've had to go to the ER a time or two and cannot afford the humongous bills. ::yes cue the violins:: Smiley LOL

I've been reading these boards and have read something about good will letters and hippa. Can someone explain to me if I can utilize any of that for these situations? My goal is to get these collections removed so my credit will go up.  Do medical collections ever get removed?

At the moment (on experian) I have 4 good things. 2 store cards, and a new credit card from credit one. I am going to use it responsibly and simply want it so my credit score improves. I read on here how its an awful card, but Ive also read that if used right it gets you on the way to good credit!

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for your help!

Hi heygirlhey and welcome to the boards. Are these medical  collections paid?

Hi,
They are unpaid. One I am currently disputing was when I was under my moms insurance and should have been taken care of.

Unfortunately you can't good will unpaid medical debt. I would call the hospital to see if they can put you on a payment plan. If they refer you to the collection agency who is handling it I would offer a PFD pay for delete if possible. or offer a settlement.

The one Im currently disputing is a chiropractor that was wrongfully submitted on their end. They didnt send the proper info to the insurance company so it was denied even though I was fully covered. Now its on my credit report as a negative when its the doctors office fault.

This is going to be quite an uphill battle.

As far as the others I will go the PFD route. Smiley Sad What is a typical settlement amount?? Does anything under 50% ever fly?

The Dr's Office can pull back the collection all they need to do is contact the collection agency and have them remove the TL.
