Greetings!
I'm a LONG time lurker but this is my first post. Before I start, I'd like to thank the community that has been built here and thanks to anyone in advance for their responses. Here goes..
I went to the emergency room on 10/5/2013. I made a payment to some billing lady of $200. I left and have not heard of it since. I recently checked my credit report and on there it shows a balance of $261. I filed a dispute with equifax saying I had no knowledge of the account and they responded saying: "We have verified that this item has been reported correctly". Great! I called the original creditor who says they cannot find the account. I called the collections company who also says they cannot find the account. I was given a number to a place that said they also could not find the account. They gave me a number and when I spoke to them they said the account was being held by a company called Capio Partners (They have never shown on my credit report). I called them and they weren't available. I called the company currently showing on my report and they said that the other companies could not find the account because the debt was sold. I asked wouldn't they keep records? They responded saying they would but it's filed differently.... would you like to make a payment today? NO. I am at a loss at this moment and don't know what to do in order to verify this debt and find out what I was even being billed for. Here's an easy to follow time line:
10/5/2013 - visit hospital make payment of $200
Debt reported under FL Emgcy Physicians Kang Assoc as original creditor (They cannot find my account)
Debt now being reported under SHAFRITZ AND BRATEN (They said other carriers will not pull up my account because the debt was sold to them)
Apparently debt also touched the hands of Capio Partners who I have never seen on my report.
Lastly it now shows an open date of 12/1/2016 and last reported date of 12/15/2016.
Thank you so much for any help on this matter. I know it's a ton to read but I really am grateful!
What did you decide to do with the Capio Partners collection?
