Medical bills being removed from credit reports after payment. Hopefully.

I have a couple of medical bills that I need removed. One is only $84! I called two separate agencies and asked to have the accounts removed from my credit reports if I paid them. They immediately agreed. I know I don't have this in writing, but I don't have the time to write a pfd. Being that they both agreed so quickly leads me to believe this is common for medical bills.

I'm going to pay tomorrow and will update this thread if they are indeed removed. One agency is called Account Services out of San Antonio and the other is American Account Advisors out of Cottage Grove.

Wish me luck!

Getting it in writing is the gold standard but if they offer it by phone its also a binding contract. Good luck Smiley Happy

Thanks! I'm going to call tomorrow and record the call as I make the payment over the phone. Better safe than sorry. It does help that they both had inaccurate addresses, although the OC had the correct address. They agreed immediately, so I'm hoping this will happen fast!

Great experience today! The woman from the collection agency was really helpful and suggested I pay a medical bill by moneygram. It would allow the payment to post faster. I paid it today and caller her with the confirmation number. She said it will post tomorrow and Monday she'll send me a letter that states she'll be deleting from all 3 reports in addition to sending the letter to the bureaus. Could it really be this easy? I'm excited because it's a recent collection and is on all 3 reports. I wonder how my score will be affected? I'm hoping for a decent bump!
