Midland Credit Managment

I have 3 accounts showing on my CR from Midland Credit Management. I have called in attempt to resolve the issues with the debts. They are rude and will not listen to me, they keep transfering me to my "account manager" before i can tell them not to. The "account manager" is never there and i always get his voicemail. I work long days and don't have the time to "chit-chat" with them to have these items removed. Can someone who's had experience with MCM help me navigate through what to do to get these bloodsuckers off my CR? I have a 647 EX FICO and i am looking to get it up above 700 by next June as I am buying a home and I won't be able get a great rate with these collections on my CR. I have enough money to pay off the "collections," but I want to negotiate with them to have them removed and they say they won't do so. Also, they are reporting these collections as 120 days past due. How can they do that if they're just collections? Also, they changed the dates so they seem more recent when they're over 4 years old, so do I need to send a letter to each of the credit bureaus pointing these things out? They are callling them "collections" in the letters I received but they show up on my report as "Accounts." This can't be right. They should be on the "collections tab" should they not be? I am 28 and make 60k a year and am looking at buying my first home next year in June. I have gone from a low 500 FICO to 647 within 5 months thanks to Sky Blue Credit repair agency. I have a "very good" payment history, but these "collections" are killing me, or should I say these "120 day lates" are killing me. I look forward to hearing from anyone who can help. Credit is a very serious thing. I want to know the exact steps I should take to repair it the rest of the way. I know if I make a misstep it can hurt me a lot. Thanks in advance!

Re: Midland Credit Managment

Those KD 120 days late are a bunch of bull.  It's a collection, not an active account.  What is the SOL of your state?  Are they outside the SOL?  If so you can use it for leverage.

Re: Midland Credit Managment

Unfortunately they are not out of the SOL. Illinois has a 7 to 10 year SOL. I just want these baddies removed :-( then my credit will be fine.

Re: Midland Credit Managment

You are correct that you dont have an "account" with a debt collector.  Their collection is a reporting "account" established with the CRAs to report the fact of their collection on the debt.

You are also correct in that, since you dont have an account agreement with them, you have no billing due dates upon which to base any a monthly account delinquency.

Collection accounts do not have reporting codes for monthly delinquencies.

However, having said all that, their actual reporting may not be incorrect.  It is common for commercial credit reports to incorrectly format information in a mannner to appear as if reported by a debt collector when it was actually reported by the OC.  The monthly delinquencies accrued on the OC account prior to their collection referral legitimately remain in your CR,  Are they not in fact the actual delinquencies you accrued with the OC?

Re: Midland Credit Managment

But if the CA is putting in KDs monthly this would be improper reporting and it is a method the CAs try and use.

Re: Midland Credit Managment

They only show 120 days late. the month before they say "120 days late" it says "ok" in a green box as do the rest of the months before and after the little box with "120 days late." I know there aren't 120 days in a month the last time i checked. Man Wink I am still with Sky Blue Credit Repair Agency and I will be speaking with them to see what my options are. I just want to see if anyone has successfully disputed and had removed these "collection-120 day lates."

Re: Midland Credit Managment

I want to negotiate with them to pay these off but it's hard to do so with them. Can they keep the 120 day lates on my report after I pay them off completely? Should I have Sky Blue Credit Repair deal them? They've been really good about removing duplicate or negative information from my report to the note of almost 150 points from my low CS in the low 500's now up to a 647. However, I don't know if by having them dispute the accounts if it will stir up another storm with MCM. I think the MCM agents purposefully act rude on the phone so that no negotiations can be reached so they can keep up their shenanigans. Smiley Sad I just want to put all this nonsense behind me. I have more than enough to pay these collections off but I want to do it the right way with the least negative impact to my Credit

Going to be honest, I have never ran across a thread where someone was successful in getting MCM to agree to a PFD ever since I started to rebuild almost 2 years ago.  They just don't do it. I'm not going to say it will never happen, just something that would be pretty rare to see. Paying a collection account is not a bad thing, it gets the account satisfied, and you no longer have to worry about them hounding you for payment.  Its not going to help your credit score, but when it comes to obtaining credit later on, a paid collection account is going to look better than a unpaid collection account on a manual review of your overall credit profile.

I myself, dealt with Midland. After multiple attempts to get them off and repeately failing, I paid them. Then because of some good tips on this forum, I was able to obtain a GW from them to remove my account earlier from my CRs. So if you pay that collection account, its not definitely stuck there for 7 years. You still have a chance of finding someone with a heart over at Midland to grant you a GW deletion. And I also talked to one of those account managers at Midland, dude started out agressive and was hounding me for payment. I firmly told him that I was going to pay, and that I was going to get the account handled and that I all wanted was a written letter from him agreeing that if I paid, that the account will not be sold for the remaining balance. He gave me some lip and explained they just dont do that kind of stuff. But after I calmly explained to him that I was just covering my behind, and what I was trying to do, he calmed down and we got the account handled. Now, im dealing with them again, but this time for my brother. I already got him to pay Midland and settled the account and im just trying to get them to do a GW deletion again. Unfortunately the "door" to my last Midland GW deletion seem to have closed, so im trying to find another way to get the acct deleted. Hope this helps you and good luck!
