Midland question

So, I had an aspire visa when I first started initiating my credit back in 2000 unfortunately the account went delinquent in about 2003.  The OC is no longer on my CR but Midland owns this account now and they say I owe $8829.00.  This is rediculous because my credit limit on this account was only $2600.00.  I'm not sure how to handle them because if I send a pfd, what amount do I send it for because I don't have $8829.00 nor do I owe that amount by any means. They are offering me payment options but none of them are reasonable.  Not really sure what to do, any suggestions....it's killing my CR.

Re: Midland question

if it went delinquent in 2003, then i think it should be coming up to the time when it will fall off by itself.

Re: Midland question

Long time looker, first time posting. This also happen to me. I had an Orchard Bank CC with only a $500 limit on it. Now they say I owe them $710 but told me I can pay them $478 to report it PIF. Got the money to pay it off in full but the rep I talked to on the phone say they wont delete, they will only report as paid. Do anyone have an email or contact I can try a PFD letter to get this cleared off my report?

Re: Midland question

OC has already fallen off, but midland is showing DLA 1/2010.  Midland is the one I'm concerned with because the balance is so high and if DLA is 1/2010 doesn't that extend the date to seven years from then??

Re: Midland question

no, it doesn't reset your 7 years.

Re: Midland question

So, let me better understand, if the Date of Status says: 2/2004, does that mean 2/2011 is when it should fall off???

Re: Midland question

a collection should come off about 7.5 years after your DOFD.  is that on your report?  you first mentioned the account going delinquent in 2003, not 2002.  so for example if your DOFD was January 2003, the collection should come off approximately around July 2010.  at least that's my understanding.

Re: Midland question

The OC is not on CR just Midland. The Original account was opened in 2000 it went delinquent in 2003 and went to collections with Midland in 2004.

This is what I have from the CR

Midland

Date Opened: 6/2005

Date of Status: 2/2004

Reported Since: 2/2004

Date last reported: 2/2010

Re: Midland question

yes, i understand that the OC is no longer on your report.

when in 2003 did your account get charged-off?  do you have that on maybe an older report?  because the date of status is february 2004, which means it's going to be on your report a bit longer than we thought.

Re: Midland question

I'm sorry, I guess I'm just a little confused there is so many different dates. The oldest CR I have it says that it is scheduled to stay on my CR until Aug 2010.  I guess I thought that they could change that date.  So all the dates I gave you before are on the old CR as well but it does say Aug 2010.  So can that not change??
