Midwest Recovery Systems

Hello, all.

Anyone have any experience with MRS? I have a collection with them from OC Six Flags amusement park membership (I stopped paying them when parks closed due to covid. Seems like a no-fault broken contract to me...but ok whatever).

The rep tells me they do indeed PFD, but they refuse to put that in writing in any form. Just "I'm a collection agent, so you know you can trust me". I'm just looking for anyone has paid MRS, and any advice or results.

TIA!

I am almost certain I was able to get the PFD agreement in writing  from  MRS (they faxed it to me) after speaking with a supervisor.  If they won't budge, and all you have is them stating "this call is being recorded" at the beginning of your call, along with other research (these boards, Google etc), then I would pay.  Call them with your offer, be firm and start very low.  But remember, they are not obligated to remove the item, even after you paying it. They can argue - and I don't think they would - "we have to report what's accurate" and that is a zero balance after settlement, but the item still showing.

Get an inexpensive fax account before calling them, in case they say, "we can only fax the PFD letter.."

Good luck!

Re: Midwest Recovery Systems

Ok thanks.

It's just frustrating. It's only 300 bucks. I'd just PIF if I had something in writing. I don't want to settle and they pull the whole "we would've deleted but you only settled" or some such. I just don't see how a simple terms email is that difficult....pay this and we'll do that. One sentence.

Re: Midwest Recovery Systems

@Anonymous Have they confirmed the debt? Because these guys had something on my report and I refused to pay because it wasn't mine. I disputed and it got deleted. But, they wouldn't really talk to me much. I'd try contacting the original creditor.

Re: Midwest Recovery Systems

Naw, it's mine. I think it's BS that Six Flags wanted me to keep paying my membership even when all their amusement parks were/are shut down, but yeah it's my debt. I paid MRS in full today... didn't even try to settle for less. We'll see if they keep their word about PFD, they just refused to put the PFD in writing.

After you take care of it you can always file a BBB complaint against them for some redress

Re: Midwest Recovery Systems

Might just be me, but I would be looking through that Six Flags contract....if they cannot provide the service they expect you to pay for, they should not be able to collect payment.  I wouldn't pay a penny until I verify that there is no provision within the contract that allows you an easy way out in case they cannot hold up their end of the deal.

Re: Midwest Recovery Systems

Hey OP, have you got this taken care of? I randomly had a collection with this company pop up on my credit. I was able to speak with them and did a settlement for deletion. How long did it take for it to be removed from your report? I paid it last week, received my letter right away stating that they would remove it, and now I'm just waiting for it to go away.
