Most efficient way to remove bad history

good evening all,

i am currently rebuilding and need some advice. I was very immature when I was younger and now I have countless derog and charge offs (approximately 12-16). I have a secured cc and I am currently paying on my student loans. I am beginning to look into buying a home but I think that is probably not realistic given my current situation. My cc has assisted in raising my score approximately 50 points. I am now just over 600 for all three bureaus. I need some assistance. I not only want to raise my score but also remove the negative items. Most of them will be past the SOL in 2017 and 2018. What is the most effective game plan in handling this? Thank you all in advance.

Re: Most efficient way to remove bad history

I think you need to get a few copies of your credit report, one from each.

Caculate which ones if any are old enough to fall off soon ( this year or early next year). Anything within 5-7 months with TransUnion you can call for an early removal.

Anything thats left that has several years to go before their 7th year, these are the ones you need to pay for delete. I usually start with the lowest balance ones, try a settlement offer over the phone or by mail. Most people here send letters, but I have had very good luck just talking to the agencies, that sometimes can save 7-10 days sending letters.

If you have anything current your paying on and have missed a payment or so you can always send a GW letter, this is the only time I have sent a letter. I have not had any success in having 30-60 day lates removed.

If you only have a single credit card, your should get two more. Three cards minimum to push scores up most effectively.

Re: Most efficient way to remove bad history

I applied for the cap1 platinum and got approved for 500 bucks. I read on a different thread that I should also apply for the QS1 immediately. I did so but when I submitted my application it says I'm approved but takes me to the platinum approval. Should I wait a few days to apply or should I just wait it out?

Get what you can get, you can always get your cards upgraded to QS rewards later. Use them a lot and make multiple large payments each month, then request CLI's after the third statement.

You should apply for QS1 immediately. This is so they only do one HP on your credit reports instead of 2.

If you were approved for Platinum, it's highly likely you'll be approved for QS1.
