I have been working on my credit and was down to 3 collection accounts left. All 3 were with NCA, balances were $2096, $2196, and $3300. With all my reading and research on this forum, I was a little worried that these would be the most difficult to do anything with because I've read NCA is the worst. I had no hopes for a settlement or a pay for delete, so I intentionally put this off til last and focused on the ones I thought I had the best chance of cleaning off. About 2 weeks, I decided to tackle it and sent them a verification request letter asking them to verify all 3 accounts. I just received an alert from Credit Karma that all 3 accounts were removed!!!! It gave me a 32 point bump on Transunion on Credit Karma. It hasn't updated on Fico just yet, but I am excited to see what it will do to those scores!
I have 1 other collection account through Midland Credit Management that is already paid and they've confirmed it will delete. Once that happens and NCA catches up across the board, I will officially have zero collection accounts reported! HOORAY!pic.jpg
Congrats, but don't pop the champagne cork too soon. Watch your mail, email, and credit reports for information on those accounts. If they're not 7 years 180 days past the DoFD, there are any number of reasons why they may have been removed, and none of them mean they're gone for good. Good luck!

Agreed. It could also be that they were just temporarily removed by the CRA while the CA investigates and follows through on your DV request.

Congratulation on your 3 deletions. Usually, collection accounts are the easiest to remove from report. A sample validation letter usually gets them off your back. Once an account delete from a credit report, the creditor can't put it back on there. That's a violation in it own right, if they do, you can sue them.

Sorry but none of those statements are true. Collections are often difficult to get removed, especially if the CA doesn't offer PFD, and not all CAs do.
Also validation letters do nothing if you are past your 30-day response window from the dunning notice. They are not required to respond after that, nor do they have to cease collection efforts. That would only apply if DV was requested within 30 days of dunning notice. From there, the CA would either have to cease collection efforts until they respond, or simply not respond, but also discontinue collection efforts.
Finally, a collection can definitely be re-reported if it's found to be valid and within the 7.5 year reporting window. The only illegal thing would be if they reaged it.

Yea, this is all incorrect on so many levels as pointed out by @OmarGB9.

Thanks for all the feedback! I'll watch for anything else that may come up, but in the meantime I will enjoy the score raise and the deletion.
Well, I'm jealous. NCA must be slippin - they NEVER delete via dispute, especially not THREE. WOW
Enjoy that! ![]()
