National Credit Adjusters (Cashcentral.com)

I am in the process of repairing my credit so that I can purchase my first house. Currently, my credit is sitting at 565/567/603. I spoke to a loan officer who said that if I can get my lowest two scores above 600, then I'm good to go, per the underwriter he handed my case to. I have an account with NCA for $434 on a bad decision payday loan that I took out December of 2019. Has anyone had experience with them settling for 50% or did you have to do a PIF. I see here on the forums that they are pretty adamant on the no PFD, so I'm just trying to see the best angle I can take on this. If anyone did pay for less than 100% of the amount did they send a PIF or something else? Maybe they have become more lienent due to the whole Covid crisis? Maybe? A girl can hope, lol.

NCA is absolutely horrible....I have a collection with them for $401 and it falls off next year so definitely out of SOL but anyways last year and the year before i offered them a settlement of $280 and the lowest they would go is $360 so they are still unpaid until they fall off March 2022. Good luck on dealing with them. Oh yeah and they really do refuse PFD no matter what.

My advice would be to circumvent NCA and talk to the original creditor instead.  Deal with them.  Offer to pay in full for them to call back the collection and have everything deleted.  Explain that you are in the middle of a home purchase and the reporting of the collection is harming your ability to purchase said home.  I find that dealing with the OC is almost always better than dealing with a CA. Not always, but most of the time.  Good luck!!

So update on that idea! I tried it. Lol. Apparently I'm not the first either and I was told by the CSR that once they have sold it off it is gone and there is no pulling it back. So I'm going to have to put on the big girl pants and talk to NCA.

UPDATE on NCA

I called them today, and offered them $295 to settle the $434 debt. Slipped in that it was my birthday month and that I just wanted to be debt free for my birthday. The lady told me that we could settle the account for $173 or 60% off for my birthday. Tooootally took it! She advised that they will be sending a letter by mail to me, that it would take 15 - 20 days to go to a zero balance. All in all, I'll take it.

Nice! Good result and you're the first one to say anything that hints at them employing actual humans instead of demons.

This was the whole reason I put off calling them last month! I saw nothing but bad things, but time is ticking on me qualifying for a house so I went for it! I'm sooooo glad the person I spoke to had a heart!

Hi!

I am in a similar boat and I came across your post! Congratualtions!!!

I just wanted to ask if when they updated it, did the account show a zero balance or a note saying paid for less than full?
