Hello all. I'm new here on the forums. I need some guidance on removing a paid collection off my credit report. Before I even knew about PDF and these forums I went ahead and paid off a small collection of $107 to Waypoint Resource Group. I have read just about all the topics about trying to get them to remove from my credit report, however none of those topics fit my case. So I did in fact dispute it after the collection was paid. It did get removed from Experian but it came back verified through Equifax and Transunion. My question is that what should I attempt to do next? I have read that Waypoint states that it's "Not in their policy" to remove it. This company is the main reason why I am unable to get a mortgage.
Cliff notes
Paid Waypoint Resource Group Collection in full
Disputed through all three bureaus. Verified through two
Called and still wont remove
They always say it's not in their policy lol that is because they don't want people to rely on that BUT they can remove it if in fact the debt is paid as then they would be reporting false information. You can hire someone to help you get those removed or you can try disputing it to the B's too.
Ps I like your Cliffnotes haha more ppl need to do that XD
Another side note you can try I'm not sure if you did already or not is contact the Original Creditor before it went into Collections and let them know it was paid and see if they can remove it but odds are they will say since it's in the Collections it's up to them.
What was the basis of your dispute? Disputing is offered to correct wrong information - not to remove (valid) accounts that are paid.
Don't keep disputing it - the CRAs may just note that you dispute frivolously and it can get more difficult to remove incorrect information in the future. If they're reporting that the debt is paid, then they are not reporting false information.
Don't pay a credit repair company, they'll just (incorrectly) dispute it, too.
Your best bet is to write/send goodwill letters. There is something called the Goodwill Saturation technique here in the forums that you can search for and try.
Good luck.
I'm just curious but if you paid the collection account and the balance is zero, why is this affecting your ability to get a mortgage? Is your score too low? I'm a mortgage underwriter and I've never declined a mortgage for a paid collection account.
It's affecting my ability to get a conventional loan here in Texas. At this point I am close with my mortgage scores of 617EQ, 569TU, 607EX. Where most require 620 minimum. My wife and I did get approved for an FHA loan, however the rates are not the best. Nonetheless I would prefer to have this paid collection off my report entirely.
Ah ok...then it's a score issue. Does TX offer any kind of state mortgage program. I live in CT and here we have the CT Housing Finance Authority that does mortgages where the rates are typically better than FHA although again, you may run into a score issue with them.
Hey pineapple, just curious if you ever had any luck getting the collection removed from your other to credit reports. And, if so, how? Please let me know as I am dealing with a similar issue with waypoint. thanks!

A single paid collection can't be the only reason your scores are that low.
What active cards and loans do you have? Charge offs? late payments? BK?
