So I have finally finished cleaning up my credit report. Many things were deleted and the rest I paid off. So now I'm trying to rebuild my credit to bring my credit score up. I don't have any revolving credit. So I applied for an Old Orchard secured credit card and was declined because I have one item on Chexsystems, which was paid and resolved. My question is, does anyone know of a secured credit card that I could apply for without worrying about Chexsystems?
I know Public Savings Bank does not pull CRs, but im not sure about ChexSystems. They don't mention Chex on their website and I really doubt they do pull Chex. Another option would be Capital One. I didnt know Orchard Bank pulls Chex for their secured card. But now that im thinking about, and If Im right on this, when you apply for the Orchard secured card, they do open a savings account and then issue you a secured card tied to that savings account. Might be the reason why they would check with ChexSystems. Capital One does not do the whole savings account thing, so Im assuming Cap One does not pull Chex. They do however, pull all 3 CRs though. Hope this helps somewhat and good luck!
BTW, if you've paid and resolved it, you probably have proof of that, right?
I'd try to get that fixed and I'd write a recon letter to Orchard.
I do have a letter from the bank that it was resolved. I guess it doesn't hurt to send Orchard a letter to try. I'll do that, thanks for the idea.
I'd attach a copy. I'd definitely try to get Chexsystems to update correctly so you don't have this problem again.
Is the entry on Chexsystem showing paid and resolved or still unpaid?
My daughter paid her bank $25 to have the item removed from Chexsystem. Took about 48 hours.
Well, when I received an updated letter from Chexsystems, it only shows the bank name. It does not show the amount or if it was paid or not. I'm not sure if a bank would receive a different versions showing paid or unpaid. I think I will call the bank directly and see what can be done. It doesn't hurt. I'll pay them anything to have it removed ![]()
I opened a card with Public Savings as I did not want any inquiries. I have been VERY happy with the. They reported almost immediately after I received the card and they report each and every month. I can't say the say for my student loans and car lender. Public Savings reports like clock work. When I make a payment on the last day of the month they submit that to the CRA's. I have been please with them. Minimal fees and interest. I had a bad history with credit cards and never again will I get one that is not secured and I for sure don't think you can go wrong with Public Savings Bank. I hightly recommend.
