I pulled a new fico today and saw my score had dropped 30 points in a month! I noticed a new collection for $190 from an eye care store in a town that I moved from 4 years ago. I called the CA, who were very helpful and very nice, and explained the situation. They gave me the name and number of the OC along with the name of the person I needed to talk to. Unfortunately, she will not be in the office until Monday.
My plan is to ask the OC to take it back from the CA and I will PIF. If they won't, I'll do a PFD with the CA.
How does this sound?
I'm a little upset because we had no idea this was out there. We lived in that small town for 10 months after the date of service, and had our mail forwarded for a year, and never heard from the OC. I have vision insurance, and would have had to pay for any contacts or glasses before I left the office, so this seems a little strange.
The good news is that we are debt-free, have an emergency fund, and are in the best financial shape of our lives. But I was really hoping to brreak the 700 mark this month! Grrrrr
