New Collection / SSN doesnt match file?

I got a letter from convergent about a $35 collection from an old paypal account that i closed because it kept having fraudulent activity on it.. well i was going to just hurry and pay the $35 because its not reporting on my credit yet.. however, when i just went to their website it said to call them because my SSN did not match their records... so now im thinking they dont actually have the correct info to collect. Should i hold off on calling and send a DV letter? or scan the letter to CS360? not sure if that will help since its not on my credit report yet? I just want to do whatever is fastest to keep it from reporting?? im not trying to fuss over $35!

If the amount isn't a big deal to you then you can always get an agreement to not report if you pay it. Or you can send a DV letter.

What is the date of their  collection ("dunning") notice?

If still within 30 days, a DV would still be timely, and would be my suggested next step in order to get more info and also impose a cease collection bar until they send validation.
