Re: New to posting - Medical collections w/ multiple questions

That's awesome to hear, ktscore.

Now I"m curious about a couple things:

1) Can I mail multiple pre-hipaas in one envelope?  I have everywhere from 2 to 5 total (ther are 5 total, but they are not all reporting on all CRAs) to send to each CRA.  Do I have to do them seperately?

2) At what point do they come off your CR?  After the pre-hipaas or after you PIF to the OC?

I'm so ready to PIF & have them taken care of, I hope this goes somewhat smoothly!

Re: New to posting - Medical collections w/ multiple questions

I sent mine separately, with the exception of one letter that was for the same CA, same OC, but different bills.  I included those in one letter and just listed the different account numbers.  I saw other people who sent theirs out in the same envelope though.  I thought about doing it, but I guess I was probably being a little overly cautious and just sent them all out separately.  I think if I did it over again, I would probably combine...my postal bill was over $50!

Ha!  I want to send them all seperately, but the thought of handwriting each one seperately... *shudders @ the thought* Smiley Tongue

Yes, I'm sure the post office will be very happy w/ me when I walk out on Monday (I decided to wait to get a response about mailing them together or seperately before I sent out).

Re: New to posting - Medical collections w/ multiple questions

Oh!  One more question, did you CMRR or just CM?

WhyChat says not to RR, but I've read on the boards where some have CMRR w/ no issues.

I want to CMRR...

Re: New to posting - Medical collections w/ multiple questions

I mailed all mine CMRRR.  I think that's how they used to say to do it on the medical board here, but I'm not sure.  I think I've seen it both ways.  I don't know why it would hurt to get the RR.  ???  Yeah, I took a break in the middle of getting all my envelopes addressed and green cards filled out!  Smiley Very Happy  Good luck tomorrow!

Re: New to posting - Medical collections w/ multiple questions

Just touching base here & keeping all informed.

I got my first green cards back yesterday (both for EX, one for the husband and one for myself)... yay!

I'm sooooo ready to just pay these and get it over with... the waiting is driving me crazy already!

EDITED TO ADD:  a) I did send CMRR, b) So what happens if CRA can't validate?  I still want to be able to pay the bills (while I don't agree w/ a couple of them -insurance dispute issues- they are valid & I do want to PIF them), so would I go ahead & move on to the letter to the OC w/ my restricted endorsement payment?  Can the CA add them to my CR again at a later date if they are not validated (prior to me paying them, which I intend to do immediatley, but I"m just curious).

we were told when we refinanced four yrs ago that they (the lender) did not consider collections if they were medical - of course, that was four yrs ago...

This is definitely not universally true.  I was just denied for a car loan on the sole basis of unpaid collections, all of which are medical.  I definitely would have kept a much better eagle eye on those medical bills if I hadn't believed the myth that medical collections "don't really count"!  I'm definitely paying for that now.  Smiley Mad

Gotta love getting those green cards back!  I have no idea what you do if they don't validate.  I had a couple med collections that just hit our reports, and I absolutely knew that they were valid, so I didn't even bother with the pre-HIPAAs.  I know they're valid, so I just went ahead and paid the OC, but I did send a cashier's check, restricted endorsement, with the second letter saying they needed to remove them from my CR per FCRA and all that good stuff.  I just sent that out last week, and haven't heard anything yet, but it seems kind of like the same situation.
HOWEVER...TU has finished their investigation on the pre-HIPAAs that I sent about 3 weeks ago, and we already received letters back from them.  They deleted 6 old accounts that they were not able to verify (and they were so old that we didn't even know if they were valid or not).  I was so surprised that they deleted that many!  That only left about 3 accounts on there, so we're going to PIF, continuing the HIPAA process, and we'll see what happens.  Haven't heard back from EX or EQ yet, so we'll see what happens there.
I guess if you're going to PIF, I would do what you're thinking and just keep going with the cashier's check to the OC, restricted endorsement, and the second letter just to be sure it is cleared up correctly.  I wouldn't think the CA would be able to report to the CRAs again if you've paid the OC.  Good luck!

Re: New to posting - Medical collections w/ multiple questions

I swear, my luck just sucks!

So, I sent out the Pre-HIPAAs all on the same day (for both my med collections & DH's med collections).

I get a fraud/victim alert on both Experian & Transunion.  Nothing from Equifax (not even my green cards yet).  I call TU to remove the fraud alert and will be faxing my letter to Experian tomorrow.

DH gets a letter in the mail today from TU stating the two med collection TLs on his TU CRA have been deleted (now, what does that mean?  Do I pay them still?  If I don't have accurate verifiable information, then I'm not really sure what to do here...).  Yay for the deletes, but I'm not really sure where that leaves me in the payment process (or the whole HIPAA process to begin with - will go do more reading on it in a bit).

We also disputed a TL on DH's account with him as an AU on a baddie CC, within 2 days it was deleted.

I went to dispute a TL that I was an AU on and I can't do it online because of the fraud alerts.

I'm so frustrated right now... just when I was feeling confident that I was going to be able to get these CRA messes cleaned up, another thing jumps in my way.

I don't really know what to do about my CRAs w/ these fraud alerts on there (they **bleep** me off so much right now!).

Sorry for the rambling, just putting an update out there!

Re: New to posting - Medical collections w/ multiple questions

Hey SydLo, sorry about your recent troubles!  I can't believe they put a fraud alert out there!  Did you get that resolved yet?  I haven't had any of those issues, so I have no clue what to do.  Hope things start to look better for you.  Keep us posted.  I saw your new thread, so keep us posted there or here...wherever.  Good luck!
