Nordstrom/TD Bank charge off

I have a Nordstrom charge off and it appears Nordstrom still holds the account and it is 4.5 years past DOFD. It is for $758. I want to settle this and move on. However, I was looking back through my emails from them from making payments and when the account first reported negative status. In my emails a few emails refeeence one account number and a few others reference a completely different account number. I have no idea which is correct. So, in theory how do I know which one I should be paying on? Has anyone ever heard of Nordstrom doing PFD? Has anyone had luck settling with them? Was it a painful process?

@Anonymous Just a thought, have you tried checking the account number referenced in your credit report with either of the account numbers you have discovered?

The other option might be to call in to verify.

Unfortunately I don't think they would accept a pfd. Worst case you settle it and goodwill TD bank in hopes of a deletion.

Good luck!

Re: Nordstrom/TD Bank charge off

Pull your credit report and it should tell you the account number(s) of the charged off account(s). If that doesn't work, contact TD Bank/Nordstrom's and have them look it up.

Its highly unlikely that TD Bank/Nordstrom's will delete an accurate report.

Re: Nordstrom/TD Bank charge off

I tried to cross reference the account number against what is shown on my credit report, but the account number shown in my emails shows the last 4 numbers and what’s on my credit report shows the beginning numbers. Doesn’t help me much.

That is what I figured. I’d have to GW them to death after the fact.

Re: Nordstrom/TD Bank charge off

Were you perhaps communicating with different collection agencies that were collecting on their behalf? It's possible Nordstrom still owns the debt but hired different collection agencies to collect on their behalf, and perhaps those third-party CAs each have their own account numbers?

I never communicated with a collection agency on this account. These emails came directly from Nordstrom Card Services email.

Perhaps consider calling in and getting this sorted out then. Tell them you have two different account numbers.

Re: Nordstrom/TD Bank charge off

I'm super new here and not sure if this helps... but I had a Nordstrom card charge-off for $905 (original card limit was $800). I called them directly and made a 6 month payment plan for a full removal (will payoff in 2 months)... On 1/18/21 my first payment went through to the CRA's and my credit score jumped 15+ On each... due to my utilization going down. They still report monthly so I'm assuming so long as I keep my promise, they will (fingers crossed). This is a debt from 2017.

For the account number, I just called in and provided my social. I also had 2 numbers showing, no clue why. But, only the 1 account and they never outsourced the debt to an agency.
