Okay, now what do I do?

Thank you for all the help, and man, those DV letters really do work.  Here's my picture:  December 2009 I pulled all three CR.  Very bad in deed.  EQ: 462 TU 485 EX: 506.  I just pulled two today  and they are getting better, EQ: 574 and TU: 569.  NOW, I owe nobody, so how do gain points when I am still in a bad light.  I had First Savings CC, and the others, thinking about getting a Orchard, but I really don't want any more credit cards.  Are there any other options on gaining points without the cards?  Side note:  I had a baddie with Capital One, shows repossesion/foreclosure?! but as of Feb 2010 it's OK, haven't paid in years that's the only creditor I owe at $1400, what should I do with them?  Thanks for all the help, past and future!!!

Re: Okay, now what do I do?

I have Capital One as well.  I tackled my collections first and my student loan first.  I left Capital one.  Mine has a balance of 1375.  They are the OC and there is no collection agency assigned.  I got a letter in the mail for me to call and set up a payment plan. That is how I am going to handle them.  First it is accruing about 40 bucks a month in interest.  That will stop with a payment plan.  They other thing is that this is making my UTIL rate show as 194%.  So I want to pay it down to have that go to zero and hopefully boost my score.  You get extra points for paying down the UTIL over time so I am cool with the payment plan.  Then I am forever done with Capital One.  They are horrible people.

Re: Okay, now what do I do?

The best result you can get is pay-for-restoration to good standing, assuming it's one of your older accounts.  Otherwise, you want PFD, which is also good.

Re: Okay, now what do I do?

Thanks, both are good suggestions, I may try for the restoration (hmmmm...) but the pay for delete sounds good but I don't have that much right now in full. I may just try for a payment plan and get them as far away from me as possible, yes they are bad people, but I do owe them.  Glad to hear any more suggestions on building credit without credit cards, ( sounds like an oxymoron)!

How old is the debt?  What is the SOL and the DoFD?

If this CO is your only negative item, your score should rise significantly when it is gone.  As an OC CO, this money is counting toward your overall utilization and is hurting your score.

What is the utilization on your CC in good standing?  They should be at 10% or under, use half of your cards and PIF each month.  The others keep a 0 balance.

Thanks guiness!

Well, the SOL is 6 years DoLA is 1/2005  date closed 7/2005 IDK when the DoFD as now it shows OK on e the credit report.  I haven't received anything in the mail from them, so I'm at a loss, I have no clue what to do with them.  Now as far as the UTI, I paid off everyone and all accounts closed at 0 balances.

Because you are still within SOL and it looks like the DoFD is sometime in 2005, I would probably leave it alone.  You said you can't pay and if you do anything now you could wake the sleeping giants and Cap One could sue you.

SOL should be up sometime next year and based on a 2005 DoFD it could fall off in 2012.  Maybe 2013.

Do you have any credit in good standing?  Specifically, revolving?

Okay just pulled EQ: 556 was 506 Cap one is on all three, so I don't want this thing riding me forever.  I now see the DoFD was1/2005.  I have no revolving credit, I don't owe anyone but CapOne.  I had the money and just paid everyone off except CapOne ( should've paid them first;})  How do I go about getting that rebuilding card with them?  That seems to be the only way.

Re: Okay, now what do I do?

When you say you paid everyone off, were they collections/COs or you just paid and closed your CC?

Whether you get the rebuilding card or not, this CO is still going to hurt your score.  Since this is unpaid the chances of you getting it are slim.  You can always check their pre-approval and see what happens.

You can get other CCs instead but they are not prime cards.  You could try First Premier or Orchard.

You really need revolving accounts, open and in good standing.

Re: Okay, now what do I do?

Some were paid charge offs, two were in good standing and closed by consumer, so should I pay the balance in a payment plan or let it ride?  I may have to go with Orchard to raise my score some.  thanks a lot for all your advice.  PS. Can I GW the CO's on my reports, all say $0, but charge off or collection account?
