Re: On the quest to 600+ FICO

Should my scores go up from settling the charge off accounts? They were both updating monthly as charged off. I know on Experian it was counting those charge offs against my debt as well which was putting it at about 300% credit utilization.

@Anonymous If it was updating regularly, you should see an increase due to reduced utilization. But what percentage of your TCL is it?

Re: On the quest to 600+ FICO

My total credit limit is only $500.  I have a platinum cap 1 card with $10 on it.  The charge off's were a total of $2984.

Re: On the quest to 600+ FICO

Once I see that credit karma reports the charge offs to zero, I'm going to get a Fico report for all three bureaus to see where I'm sitting.

Re: On the quest to 600+ FICO

The Wells Fargo charge off for $2692 has been updated to 0 balance and "legally paid in full for less than the full balance".  My FICO score went up 61 points!!!!! 576 to 637 as of today on Experian's website.  I am finally back in the 600s since this whole financial mess started in 2016.  I am stil waiting on the Best Buy charge off of $342 to update.  Also, in October will be 12 months from my last deliquent so should see another slight boost.

Congrats on the nice boost! I myself am about to pay off a $1500 CO next week. Hopefully I see a huge jump like that as well!

Congrats!! Any other negatives aside from these 2?

I'd send a GW letter to Wells Fargo and ask for this account to be "excluded" from your credit reports. I'd not include a sob story, just a quick "went through financial hardship, i'm now back on my feet and responsibly settled this account" and explain that the FCRA does not require furnishers of information to report information, it only requires them that if the information is reported then it needs to be accurate. That an exclusion of an account is at the discretion of the creditors and request this account to be excluded as a courtesy, etc. This type of GW has worked for me before but required 3-4 letters to be sent back and forth. Just my .02.
