One item showing twice as two different things?

Hey all

I have an old HSBC credit card that is showing as bad on my credit as a Charge Off.  But then I have a Collection agency for the same card that must have purchased the account.  I did a PFD at the collection agency and they are deleting the one.

My question is are they allowed to double dip hurt you?  If so, should I now contact HSBC direct to get it removed?  The second one in their name?

Yes it is legal.  One is the OC reporting the CO of their account,  The other is the CA reporting the collections of the OC account.,

Since you paid the debt to the CA, send a GW letter to the OC and ask if they will remove it.

Which CA did HSBC sell your account to?

Karnage it is: Security Credit Services

They were great.  They agreed to PFD right away and faxed in writing with no pressure.

Re: One item showing twice as two different things?

Did the OC still own the debt at the time you paid the debt collector?

The relevance to a GW request is that if they sold the debt, their net loss was then fixed at the difference between the total debt and what they recoupted after the tax writeoff and the sale of the debt to the debt collector at a substantial discount.  Upon payment to the debt collector, they did not receive an additional penny.

Howevr, if they still owned the debt, they would recoup more, and thus might be more receptive to a GW deletion.  If they owned the debt, it is something I would emphasize in a GW... the fact that your payment of the debt was ultimately to them.
